I flew with the best pilot ever this week. 😭

Not many people know this, but every time I fly on a trip, it’s always a new crew (ESPECIALLY the pilots). It’s hard to remember names and faces after that much change but it’s simply part of job.

It’s always special when I’m able to remember certain people. I’ve run into recognizable faces all over the world because of the small moments that keep their place in my mind. It can be something as simple as laughing the entire trip, helping each other, going through delays together and making the most of it.

This gift from my pilot is extra special to me because it reminds me that sometimes your biggest cheerleaders can be people you barely know. Having anyone root for you is one of the best feelings in the world. It is such a gift to experience kindness from strangers, especially in my profession. I’ll never forget him. πŸ₯Ή

It took me a really long time to realize that the only way to stop yo-yo’ing was to stop going back to old habits. I had to change, but how would I start?

1. Live as if you’re the future you who made it. πŸ†
2. If you can’t picture yourself eating/exercising that way FOREVER, don’t do it now. πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ We want to build small habits we can stick to, REALISTICALLY.

What does your future self look like? Are you thriving?
What does your future self do to take care of your mental health?
How does your future self nourish your body?
What ways is your future self exercising for heart health?

Whatever the answer is, start doing it now. Really β€œfake it β€˜til you make it!” Eventually, you learn that this isn’t about losing lbs as fast as you can. This is about building your future and getting out of the habits that brought you to this point today. The old me was depressed, always out of breath, couldn’t fit anything in my closet, lazy, ate beyond the point of feeling full.

I used to think I could only succeed if I worked out at 5 am, ate perfectly and ran marathons.
Then I realized, nah, I don’t picture myself doing these things for years to come. So I didn’t. To me, my future self was a fit girl who exercised for health, ate whole foods most of the time and still enjoyed the occasional greasy burger with fries. So I lived as if I was my future self. I stopped running (because I was literally too big to) so I started walking. I ended up falling in LOVE with walking. It became my time to listen to Bible In A Year, clear my mind, and just move my body. Then I added in weightlifting. To this day, my primary exercise routine is simply walking and weightlifting. No HIIT, no marathons, no expensive yoga classes.

As for food, my body no longer tolerates processed stuff the same. If I eat junk, I notice a major difference in my energy levels right away. A steak and egg bagel sandwich from McDonald’s gets me every time. But I don’t have it every day or every week because I always need a nap right after. Food literally became my fuel.

Live as if you’re your future self.
Because whatever you’re doing now isn’t working, is it?
