This week’s yoga philosophy is Svadhyaya, the fourth of the five Niyamas.

Svadhyaya means self-study. It invites us to turn our attention inward and observe our thoughts, patterns, reactions and choices with honesty and curiosity—not to criticise ourselves, but to understand ourselves more clearly.

On the mat, we can practise Svadhyaya by noticing the breath, the body and how we meet the practice. When a pose asks for effort, our balance shifts or something feels unfamiliar, do we hold our breath, rush, force—or listen and adjust?

In everyday life, our reactions can sometimes happen before we’ve had time to understand them. Self-awareness creates a little space to pause, recognise what may have been stirred within us and choose how we would like to respond.

We may not always be able to choose what happens around us, but with awareness, we can become more intentional about what happens next.

As September comes to a close, Svadhyaya helps us reflect on the momentum we’ve been building—what is supporting us, what may need to shift and where we are ready to grow.

Because growth isn’t only about moving forward. It’s also about understanding ourselves more deeply as we do.

What have you been noticing about yourself lately? 🤍

See you on the mat 🧘🙏

This gentle warm-up begins close to the ground, connecting breath and movement before gradually building through seated stretches, cat–cow, cobra, plank and Downward Dog.

Move at the pace of your own breath, allowing each movement to build naturally from the one before.

This is September’s theme of Momentum in practice—one breath at a time.

Continue through a few rounds, then join me for part two as we carry that momentum into core activation.

See you on the mat 🧘🙏

This week’s yoga philosophy is Tapas, the third of the five Niyamas—the personal observances that guide how we care for and work with ourselves.

Tapas is often translated as heat, self-discipline or inner fire. It isn’t about pushing harder or forcing ourselves forward. It’s the steady commitment to keep showing up.

On the mat, Tapas can be as simple as returning to your practice consistently. Staying connected to the breath and remaining present when the practice asks for effort—without ignoring what your body needs.

In everyday life, one small step, repeated each day, becomes momentum. It may not feel significant in the moment, but those small, steady actions begin to create change over time.

Where could a little consistency support you this week? 🤍

See you on the mat 🧘🙏

September’s monthly theme is all about exploring momentum.

Last month, our practice invited us to awaken and open—to notice what was beginning to shift and where we might be ready to create a little more space.

Now, as spring arrives, we begin to build momentum.

On the mat, we’ve been starting close to the ground with breath-led movement, awakening the core and gradually building our way into stronger standing flows. Allowing each breath to lead and each movement to build naturally from the one before.

Momentum doesn’t have to mean rushing forward or constantly doing more. Sometimes it begins with one breath, one movement or one small decision that helps us begin again.

In everyday life, there will be days when progress feels clear and others when it feels much quieter. But every small step counts. It’s those small actions, repeated over time, that carry us towards what we would like to grow.

Awakening. Momentum. Growth.

As always, the invitation is to begin where you are, let the breath lead and take the next step when you’re ready 🤍

See you on the mat 🧘🙏

SPRING EQUINOX • SEASONAL SOUL ALIGNMENT 🌱

The spring equinox marks a point of balance, when day and night are almost equal.

From here, the days continue to lengthen. As spring settles in, energy begins to awaken and flowers come into bloom, offering us a natural moment to pause, check in and make small adjustments to our own energy.

Over the past few months, our classes have moved through awakening and building momentum. Now, we’re ready to step into growth.

Next Wednesday, we’ll bring these themes together through intentional practices, including a cacao circle, restorative yoga and a guided Reiki meditation.

A simple hour to pause, feel the energy shifting, align with the season ahead and make space for what is ready to grow.

Wednesday 23 September • 5.30 pm
Adelaide Uni Fitness Hub

Places are limited, but if you’d like more information, send me a message and I’ll see what I can do ✨

Monthly Reflection 🤍

The past few weeks have reminded me just how much we all carry, and how often we carry it quietly.

I’ve heard so many stories lately — people recovering from injuries, surgery and preparing for treatment, grief, and simply navigating some really difficult seasons of life.

The truth is, everyone is carrying something.

Some of it we can see. So much of it we can’t.

I think that’s such a beautiful reminder to be a little kinder — to each other, but also to ourselves.

I’ve really enjoyed allowing myself a little more time and space lately. Sitting in the sunshine. Slowing down. Drawing in Reiki. Giving my body and mind a little extra love and allowing things to heal in their own time.

And it doesn’t have to be a whole morning or an hour-long practice. Sometimes it’s ten minutes in the sunshine, a few deep breaths, a meditation, some Reiki… whatever helps you come back to yourself.

Today, 8/8, feels like a nice little moment to acknowledge what’s been, appreciate what it’s taught me, and step forward ✨

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared your own stories, checked in or simply wished me well. It’s meant more than you probably realise.

It has also reminded me how much the little things matter. Checking in on someone. Sending a message. A kind word. Simply letting someone know you’re thinking of them.

We really don’t know what someone else might be carrying.

So be kind. Be gentle with yourself. And don’t underestimate how much a little bit of kindness can mean to someone. 🤍

And if you’ve ever been curious about Reiki, or how I use it in my everyday life, you’re always welcome to reach out ✨

June's theme was all about exploring inner warmth and release. As winter arrived, our practice invited us to soften through the hips and hamstrings - areas where many of us carry both physical tightness and, at times, emotional tension.

Alongside this, we've been creating warmth from within. Building strength through Chair Pose, Goddess Squats and steady holds, allowing the breath to support us as we increased circulation and gently prepared the body to release.

Sometimes the body doesn't need us to push harder. Sometimes it simply needs warmth, patience and time.

As always, the invitation wasn't to achieve the deepest stretch, but to move gently, listen closely, and trust that consistency creates change.

✨ Somehow time is escaping me. We've already celebrated a beautiful Winter Solstice, we're halfway through the year, and somehow it's already July.

This month we're continuing to build that inner warmth through purposeful movement before slowing down to restore. I'll be sharing more about our new monthly focus very soon.

See you on the mat 🧘‍♀️🤍

Winter Solstice 🤍

The Winter Solstice invites us to pause. To slow down for a moment and acknowledge where we've been, what we're carrying, and what we'd like to create space for moving forward.

Yesterday, 13 beautiful souls gathered for just this. An intentional afternoon to reflect on and celebrate the season that has been, acknowledge what felt heavy, release what we are not carrying forward, and reconnect with what matters most.

It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon filled with connection, reflection, deep rest and great energy.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for sharing your stories, your energy and your presence.

And thank you for trusting me to hold space.

A special thank you to Jo from @bohobuddhawellbeing for sharing such a beautiful sound healing experience.

May your winter be gentle, nourishing and filled with what matters most.

Spring will be here before we know it.

Until then, hold your intention close and return to it often. 🤍🌿✨ taken in Breathe Stretch Float by @emjyoga

A place to breathe.

A place to reconnect.

I can't wait to welcome you here for Winter Soul Alignment on 20 June.

Places are already filling, and with only a couple of weeks to go, now feels like the perfect time to secure your spot.

I'd love to share this experience with you. ✨

One of the greatest gifts yoga has given me isn't flexibility, strength or balance.

It's awareness.

The ability to pause long enough to notice what's really going on.

This week I found myself convinced that something had to change.

That life was too busy.

That I needed to give something up.

But after sitting with it, I realised it wasn't the thing that needed to change.

It was the pressure I was putting on myself.

The expectation.

The overcommitting.

The belief that I had to do it all.

Yoga invites us to reflect.

To create space.

To release.

But not always in the way we think.

Sometimes what needs to be released isn't the thing itself.

Sometimes it's simply the story we've been carrying.

As we move into Winter, I'm reflecting on what I'm ready to stop carrying.

Not because I want less from life, but because I want more space for what matters most.

This is exactly what we'll be exploring at Winter Soul Alignment — taking an intentional pause to reflect on the season that's been, release what feels heavy, and realign with what matters most before heading into the second half of the year.
