Please send heartfelt blessings and good vibes to my dear friend Marlea McKinstry, who resides in the fabulous Salt Lake City.

She will undergo a major back surgery tomorrow at the “U” in SLC. This is the kind of surgery that you want to AVOID as long as you possibly can.

The “possibly can “ clock ran out, and she will be under the care of a top notch spinal surgery doctor .

These 2 humans gave me the title mom and were a joy to raise. They will always be my greatest “project”. I didn’t get it all right as we discover after the dust settles and time marches on.

They taught me so much more than I was ever able to teach them. And they still light up my world. Watching them navigate all of life’s challenges, opportunities, and pitfalls, and applaud them for their accomplishments is truly beyond words. I’m in the back seat now as a grandmother but the thrill is still the same. Grandmother-hood takes it to the next level. So happy to be part of this chapter of their lives. I love you @errrrdog and @shineybaldhead

Call. Use your voice. Exercise your rights (while we still have some). Once you make a call, even if it’s just to one of their offices, you will feel better, promise. I called all three offices and spoke with an aide to each congressperson. They were receptive and friendly. Do it. Don’t hesitate. Are you concerned about your rights disappearing? by @emlbean108

This has been quite a year, in ways big and small, with magnificent moments, and moments of despair and heartache…. Pretty much the human condition if we’re paying attention.

I’ve done my share of doom scrolling and belly aching about the injustices we are witnessing on the daily with regard to our country and the world. It’s downright infuriating and frightening at times. But we get up everyday , my husband and I, shake off the stiffness and aches and pains of aging bodies , and find ways to offer positivity and hope in any way possible.

There is no substitute for making meaningful connections right now in this world. One of my favorite practices when I meet a stranger is to ask myself: “what is this person here to teach me. ?” It’s a really great tool to provide depth and meaning in each encounter, and anchor into the present moment.
