Not a day passes without my heart searching for my grandma. I could speak of her endlessly, because she was truly one of a kind. Funny and gentle, loving and humble—a protector, a defender, a woman with a heart of pure gold. Fierce when it came to her family (now I know where that fire in me comes from). Loving them was her life’s greatest purpose.

She cared for my Aunt Maria Janet as if she were her own, and anyone who stepped into her home instantly felt wrapped in warmth. Her love lived in the meals she cooked, in the coffee she poured, in the way she made everyone feel they belonged.

The last time I saw her—without knowing it would be the last—was at the hospital. During a physical therapy session, with her walker in hand, she stood up and said to the nurses, “Vamos, tengo fe. Dios es mi fortaleza,”. I held back my tears as I witnessed God’s power moving through her. She was a fighter in every sense of the word.

When she left this earth, a part of me left with her. Yet the faith she carried and the strength she lived by remain with me, guiding me forward. The ache in my heart will never fade, but I find peace knowing she rests in better hands now, free from pain.

I still can’t believe that it has been more than a week since she went to be with the Lord. Our close family have never went through a loss like this but we are at peace knowing she is no longer in pain.

Maria (beloved) Janet (God’s gracious gift). As I looked up the meaning of my aunt’s name, instantly brought me to tears because it describes who she was as a mother/nana, a daughter, a sister, and an aunt. I am beyond grateful that I got to be by her side for the last couple of months. I will always cherish the memories we shared together throughout the years. Our family will never be the same without her but thanks to her, she brought us even closer.

I wish you were still here so we can laugh and dance together. You are a gracious gift sent from God to our family. I love/miss you so much Titi Jani, my loving hardcore aunt 🤍

El tiempo pasa tan rápido cuando estás casado con tu mejor amigo. La vida mejoró mucho contigo a mi lado. Incluso en los momentos más difíciles, me has enseñado a ser paciente y esperar al tiempo de Dios. Siempre ves lo positivo en todo. Gracias por todo lo que haces por nosotros. Bride to be💍…. Never in a million years did I ever think I would be the one here getting ready to get married or even posting about it. Thank you to my sisters, cousins, and friends who planned my bachelorette party, definitely took me by surprise and I loved every moment. I am forever grateful for you all! 5 more days until I say I do 😅🥰🤍
