Grateful for the people, the lessons, the growth, and the reminders that life is about more than what we do or achieve.

Wishing you a week filled with a little more stillness, more connection, and more care.

It takes a community, or should I say, a Fora network.

Looking back at my closing remarks from last year’s Leadership Forum, I’m reminded that this movement is built on people who choose to show up, invest, and believe in what’s possible for young people.

Now, we’re just weeks away from our almost sold-out 2026 Leadership Forum.

On October 20, we’ll bring together young women and gender-marginalized leaders, mentors, executives, and community leaders for a day of connection, mentorship, career development, and leadership.

So I’m asking: How will you invest in this movement?

Buy a ticket. Sponsor. Bring your network. Mentor. Open a door. Or reach out to me directly. I’d love to have a conversation about how you can show up.

There are many ways to be part of this work. I hope you’ll find yours.

Building something meaningful requires patience, persistence, and remembering to celebrate the small wins along the way.

It’s been pretty quiet over here the last couple of weeks, and honestly, I’ve loved it.

Not every week needs to be filled with conferences, speaking engagements, and constant networking. Sometimes the real work is simply putting your head down and doing the work.

That’s what these past two weeks have looked like for me.

- More time connecting with my growing team.
- A few coffee chats.
- Catching up on emails.
- And creating space to think about what this next season at @fora.nfc will look like.

These quieter stretches are necessary. I value them and welcome more of them in between the busyness that work and life inevitably bring.

And shoutout to my friend @brionewishart for the reminder: “The Hustle Never Dies.”

The hustle has still been there these past few weeks. Just a little slower paced, but still moving forward. by @emma.akrofi

It’s kinda an anniversary for me - April makes 10 years of leadership as an Executive Director/CEO.

A decade of running organizations, building teams, working hard for ideas I believe in…and learning in real time what leadership actually looks like.

Some seasons stretched me.
Some seasons humbled me.

Because leadership isn’t just strategy, panels, and big moments. A lot of it is quiet and reflective moments as well.

It asks you to grow constantly, to check your ego, hold people through hard things, and stay aligned with the values you say you stand for.

The truth is, I’m still learning.

But I’m deeply grateful for the communities, mentors, and people who have held me through it all.

10 years in.
Still building. Still evolving. by @emma.akrofi

I’m trying to use this space to share more of my work, life, and the communities I invest in — both within and beyond @fora.nfc

This Saturday morning was a good reminder of why that matters.

Back for year three as a mentor at the Speed Mentorship program organized by Nichole of @stepoutrightconsulting and @lainey_iamshe — two phenomenal women I first met during my time at the Jean Augustine Centre.

I love these spaces. Real conversations with young people about life, work, ambition, and everything in between.

Honestly, it was a great way to spend a Saturday morning. taken in Rexdale Hub by @emma.akrofi

Glad to be in conversation with @globalnews about something we’ve been talking about a lot lately at @fora.nfc—Canada’s economy and how it isn’t working the way it should for so many young women and gender-marginalized youth.

They are qualified, capable, ready…and still pushed into unstable, gig work just to get by.

This isn’t about a lack of talent—it’s about innovation and building better systems that actually equip people to compete and thrive in a fast-changing economy.

Proud to be part of pushing this conversation forward.

Just had an incredible time sharing insights with a panel of young leaders. We dove into imagining an economy that fully champions the future of youth marginalized by gender.

I walked away from this discussion not just inspired, but also fired up to keep pushing for young people to break into these spaces of power. After all, they are the ones with a fresh vision for our world.

Take that trip. Sleep a few extra hours. Enjoy that meal. Soak up the sun. Sometimes the best thing you can do to inspire creativity and productivity is REST.
