Rescued🤍

Eight years ago, I walked into my first Hillside Camp as a nervous fifth grader. I didn’t know anyone, and truthfully, I didn’t even want to be there. But looking back now, I’m so grateful I went. That one decision opened the door for God to bring incredible people into my life, people who have poured into me, encouraged me, and helped shape me into who I am today. This final year as a camper has truly been the most meaningful. I was overwhelmed with joy as I watched my friends grow in their faith, and I’m so thankful for the memories, the laughter, and the way God continues to move in all of us. Through all of it, I’ve come to realize that God has rescued me from my “Egypt”, from the fear, doubt, and brokenness that once held me back. And now, I look forward to something new, full of hope and excitement, knowing that God’s not finished with my story. 🇩🇴Dominican Republic 2025🇩🇴
As I look back on this week and think about all of the amazing faces I got to see and the people that I got to meet, I am overwhelmed with joy. This week was one of the most memorable weeks that I have ever had and to get the opportunity to be able to spend it with the most incredible people is even more special to me. We were told to choose one word that describes the week and our experience, freed was the one word that kept coming up in my head. This past year has been full of heartache, pain, anger and loneliness, but coming here and being reminded of Gods goodness freed me. I am so thankful that this group of people have shown me what true fellowship looks like and showed the love of Christ to me. I am forever grateful for the memories, friendships and lessons that I have gained from this trip. My prayer is that this does not stop in the Dominican Republic, but we continue Gods work in our hometowns and wherever we go. taken in Santiago, Dominican Republic by @emma.alaman
