POSTS STORIES REELS

SHAKING but here it is! DEFICIT is coming out with @eburybooks on March 6! You can pre-order the book now everywhere. So many people to thank but for now: especially agent @laurencelaluyaux at @rcwliteraryagency, editor Amanda Waters for lifting the book to new heights, and last but not least @sheri.hellberg for a translation that makes the book sound like ME but in English!! A kind and caring economy is possible! by @emma.holten

VI SES D 7/11 og TAK FOR ALT DE SIDSTE TO ÅR by @emma.holten

Can we afford care? Can we afford not to care? Why are we so incapable of transforming all this wealth into something that feels good?

These are just some of the questions explored by Emma Holten in her book DEFICIT and in this interview.

DEFICIT by @emma.holten has sold for publication in the UK, Netherlands, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, portugal, Spain and Sweden.

The interview, which the author gave to Museum Jorn, can be viewed in full on the museum’s YouTube channel. Search for ‘Author Emma Holten: The healthy don't know the life of the sick’.

FRANCE!!
Merci tout le monde! First picture is me and my second brain! My translator, Catherine Renaud, I know this book is a mouthful and you did it all. Translators to the front!!
Thank you to everyone who came to my events in Paris and celebrated NOUS LE VALONS BIEN. So overwhelmed and happy to see so many of you. I heard people had to be turned away at @cafebokbar, I promise I will come back! @fondation_danoise & @maisondudanemark, you were such wonderful hosts! At @palaisgallieramuseedelamode I thought a lot about sewing and embroidery, and how these were almost the only jobs women in France were allowed to take for many decades. The skill and technology of women’s work. Deepest mercis to @clairedoserro and the team at @robert_laffont. Your passion for this book is so present in everything and it feels so great to be a team. And thank you to my mother for coming with me on the trip, a small thing to give back for a world of care💗 by @emma.holten

Have you ever felt guilty for taking a day off in the middle of the week to care for someone you love? Or maybe you’re a full-time parent who felt a lot more respected back when you were working?

In this week’s interview, Emma Holten, author of the award-winning book Deficit, challenges the deeply ingrained ideas that shape how we define value — and how those ideas influence the way we spend our time, energy, and lives.

Join us for this powerful conversation. You’ll find the link in our bio.

Summer’s over, here’s a roundup!
Trips to Finland (thank you entire @gummeruskustannus team for an incredible launch!), London, Aalborg, Edinburgh, Molde, Stockholm and a wild weekend with @realdaniadk. Overwhelmed by all the kindness and care you show me and my book. It is no secret to the people who know me that while the launch of the book was very fun, the past year has also been a difficult one for me mentally. I am very happy to share that I am now feeling better, and truly starting to be able to enjoy all the things that are happening.

THANK YOU LACANIAN PSYCHOANALYSIS! by @emma.holten

So, so proud to share that UNDERSKOTT, the Swedish edition of Deficit, has received the Sara Danius Prize, which is awarded yearly to a groundbreaking woman artist or writer. Specifically for “an artistic and humanist essay which reveals the true deficit in economism’s world view.” Thank you to the jury of absolute luminaries for choosing my work, and for the celebration in Stockholm. Honoured doesn’t begin to cover it. I brought my Swedish mom with me! by @emma.holten

Mille grazie, Italia!
Italian feminism plays such a big role in this book, so it was a special honour to release it at the Milanesia Festival in Milan. Thinkers like Silvia Federici, Mariarosa Dalla Costa and novelists like Elsa Morante and Elena Ferrante have all meant so much to me for their thoughts on care, solidarity, money and women.
Political movements for the protection of the dignity of every human life have always been radical, but now more than ever.

To have the book published by a hero, @claudia.durastanti at @latartaruga_edizioni, was more than I could have ever dreamed of. Thank you @lamilanesiana_elisabettasgarbi and @lanavediteseo for your care and hard work. And last but not least @steforlani for a wonderful translation.
And the party is not over yet! See you at @libreriatuba, the iconic feminist bookstore in Rome, on June 25! by @emma.holten
