“Do you believe in signs?” asks South African ceramicist @Cara_Bauermeister_ceramics whose return to clay began with two fragments of buried porcelain unearthed in the garden of her Somerset West home. @cabanamagazine @emmabecque visits the artist’s farmhouse and studio, where a lifelong fascination with craftsmanship, collecting and the natural world has shaped both the interiors and her coveted ceramics.

At Gripsholm Castle, @kungligaslottenon the shores of Lake Mälaren, centuries of Swedish monarchy are preserved in painted ceilings, portrait-lined corridors and rooms that have served as both royal sanctuary and prison.

The castle’s greatest surprise is hidden inside one of its turrets: Gustav III’s exquisite private theatre, completed in 1781 and still retaining its original stage machinery and painted scenery from the last recorded performance in 1785.

We explored this extraordinary storybook fortress for @cabanamagazine

I’m so honored to share one of our favorite projects in @cabanamagazine!

A beautiful 18th century house transformed to accommodate modern day life and extended family and friends. They were and are the most wonderful client, and they came to us with an extensive knowledge and appreciation for design, not to mention a stunning art collection. I let the architecture take the lead, creating minimal window coverings and jib doors to conceal closets while highlighting walls with combed plaster and drenching the study in red lacquer wallpaper by @elitisfrance.

A dream house for a dream client! Link in bio.

Thank you @emmabecque for the most beautiful words and a perfect story!!
