today we got to say our final goodbye. when i found out that you left us, i didn’t want to believe it. i was at a loss for words and i still am.

you truly were the brightest star that shined in the lives of people that were lucky enough to know you. you had the biggest smile, and you lit up any room. even though you’re gone, you’re remembered to many as the girl that would never stop laughing, making jokes, and dancing no matter where you were. you always had a fiery spirit full of energy from all those energy drinks you drank everyday. i always scolded you jokingly before we would play but nothing would change your mind. when your mind was set on something, you were sure to do it, and you would stick up for anybody too.

i have so many memories with you like the rest of us grieving right now. i can’t pick just one that i love the most, but i will never forget being the last ones in the locker room with you and reagan after our last game of the season. i told you and her that it was your turn to step up and lead the legacy, and you were ready to take it head on and help lead the team like you always were because you were a helper. you’d help anyone who needed it, and that’s what made you so special.

14 years of my life has been dedicated towards my first love - volleyball. Thank you Jesus for giving me something that brought me so much passion and joy and for leading me to Ferris State volleyball. Thank you for guiding me through all of the long days and hardships that ultimately made me a leader and human I didn’t even know I could be. Thank you for giving me my teammates that I also get to call my best friends. Thank you volleyball for the growth and long journey that made me who I am today. Most of all, thank you to my parents and all of my coaches for believing in me when no one else did, including myself. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
