Shaman’s Hut Interior

The village’s connections to the spirit realm manifests in motifs inside homes too. Inside the shaman’s hut, there are flowers with star-like shapes that symbolize the presence of ancestors, a constellation board to read messages from dead loved ones, and materials to paint tapestries that ward off evil.

A long overdue post! Last summer, I took the wonderful Khang Le’s ( @drkhang ) Background Design for Animation course at CDA. I learned a lot about composing an image, and will forever be grateful for his teaching!

Someone’s far from home!

A painting from photo reference at JeunJu Korean restaurant in Flushing, plus a sneak peek of a little dimension-travelling character.

I figured I might as well combine my line and paint skills! This was super fun so I hope to do more of these studies in the future :)

That’s the last of them!! Now moving onto senior thesis ✍️ Planning to make more backgrounds with characters, and aiming to make my pieces feel more authentic.
