From Padstow’s heavyweight food scene to under-the-radar village gems, North Cornwall is quietly becoming one of Britain’s most interesting places to eat out. Bude native and writer @emmahendy_ takes us on a culinary road trip around this beautiful area… just don’t call it Devon!

I’ve been wanting to visit Taste Tibet in Oxford for ages and I finally made it last December (!) and loved it. Plenty of warming spiced curries, bowls of noodles and dumplings - it’s traditional Tibetan nomadic food cooked by Yeshi Jampa who grew up in Tibet.
It’s obviously mega popular locally as there’s huge freezers packed with frozen dishes for people to take home too. taken in Taste Tibet by @emmahendy_

Back in April I had a super fun food work trip to Santiago de Compostela in north western Spain. But it wasn’t to walk the El Camino de Santiago like most do there, but to eat of course, especially as it was with the fabulous @jose_pizarro
We had our own food pilgrimage with José, multiple dinners (even in one night), many many @nordesgin spritz, plenty of goose barnacles (definitely one to google) and many other Galician delights.

Inn case you’re wondering, the first picture that looks very BFG-esquire is from the Nordés gin experience.

The link to my feature on the trip is in my bio.

Love the interiors at @binghamriverhouse in Richmond, and loved chatting to owner Sam and head chef Vanessa about all the amazing work they’re both doing with the menu and hotel’s overall approach after it became a BCorp.

Kota restaurant in beautiful Porthleven in south Cornwall is now in its 20th year, no small feat by any means. It’s run by Jude Kareama (you’ll know him from Great British Menu) and is easily one of the nicest chefs in the industry, who I could chat to for hours and hours about Cornwall, food and also weirdly, Shepherd’s Bush.
To celebrate such a milestone, Kota had a little change earlier this year and I had the pleasure of both eating there and interviewing Jude too for a piece in The Caterer - the link is in my bio.

Way, way back in January, I got to celebrate Chinese New Year at the utterly gorgeous @dongnaebristol with this special menu. If you’ve not been yet, it’s absolutely one to add to your list.

Thanks @alicegeorginanoakes and @jessicaparkhouse @yarrowcomms for having me. by @emmahendy_
