This weekend I’ll graduate from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and a minor in Sociology. The past four years of college have truly been beyond any of my wildest dreams and I have some thank yous to make.@pennstate_edu thank you for all of the incredible opportunities you’ve provided over the past four years. I’m so grateful for the incredible generosity of the scholarship donors and award committee for lifting so much of my financial burden and making an education at a globally-renowned university a possibility for me. Thank you for your endless support. Because of you, I’ll get to impact so many students’ lives by being the best teacher I can be. @hercampusatpsu thank you for being the very first group I joined on this campus, giving me an outlet to share my words even when I decided to change my major from Journalism to Education, and for keeping that part of me alive for eight whole semesters. @pennstatethon thank you for inspiring me, for challenging me, and for introducing me to so many incredible people. Getting to love our three beautiful families, sing Dancing in the Sky during Final Four in honor of our Angels these past three years, and end my THON journey by dancing for 46 hours was truly the privilege of a lifetime. @singinglions there are no words to describe what this organization has meant to me or the kinds of doors it opened for me. If not for the Singing Lions, I would not be the person I am today. Thank you for giving me my best friends, my favorite memories, and thank you for trusting me to lead as your President these past two years. I love you more than I can say in the limited characters of an Instagram caption.@pennstate thank you for the best four years of my life. Thank you for having the most beautiful campus, the best fight songs, the most incredible opportunities, and the most wonderful people. May our lives but swell thy fame, Dear Old State. I’m still processing that this weekend really happened and I didn’t just dream that we raised $17.7 million For the Kids. These were the hardest but most rewarding 46 hours of my entire life. Kelsey, I love you so much and getting to do this thing with you was so special. We stood up as a team and sat down as a team—I couldn’t have done it without you by my side.I can’t put into words how unbelievably grateful I am for all of the love and support I felt throughout the weekend from dancer mail, our incredible THON families, our Singing Lions family both in the stands and coming down to visit on the floor, and from texts and calls all weekend long.We may not have sat or slept these 46 hours, but we were fueled by so much love and encouragement to keep going through the toughest moments. I’m so proud of our little organization for everything, not just this weekend, but the work put in throughout the year to get to this day. Packing up our apartment has me so excited for our next chapter, but also nostalgic for the last five years in this town and all the versions of me I got to find here. If the girl who started college here in 2021 could see the experiences and family that this place gave us, I know she’d be very grateful for and proud of the life we have now. by @emmahogan___
