I am so excited to announce my commitment to run division 2 track at Trevecca Nazarene university, continuing my academic and athletic career. Words cannot express how grateful I am for this opportunity! Trevecca is my dream school and I am so honored to be apart of their program next fall.

Thank you Coach Frye and Coach K for giving me the opportunity to be apart of your program! Thank you for welcoming me and I’m so blessed to have the privilege of running and competing under your leadership!

Thank you to all of my amazing coaches who have gotten me where I am today. Especially a big thank you to Coach Ryan Douglas, Coach Jan Pippin, and my first ever coach and the one who encouraged me to start track, my dad, also known as Coach Bernie. You all never gave up on me and have helped me so much on the track and in life. Thank you for supporting me and my dreams!

But most importantly I want to thank Jesus for blessing me with this opportunity, for giving me an able and healthy body to be able to compete , for being my strength through every trial, and for his faithfulness time and time again. All praise, honor, and glory goes to Jesus, I wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for Him! God is so good and if you take anything away from this post I want it to be that you know how good God is and to never give up on the dreams that the Lord has placed in your heart!

This post is long overdue but recently I’ve been reflecting on all the Lord has done in my life around track and field, he’s brought so much redemption, a renewed love for the sport, a new level of discipline and work ethic, and he’s brought so many amazing coaches and people into my life. It’s a little bitter sweet making this post since this is probably the last time I’m competing in the AAU Junior Olympics.
I went into this season in full surrender to the Lord, placing wasn’t my first priority, my first priority was the Lord, working hard, and having fun soaking in every moment. My heart posture allowed me to work hard and the Lord blessed me with a discipline and desire for the sport that I’ve never had before. I looked forward to every single practice, every single workout, and I saw so much progress in those few months of training. This was my first year ever competing the Heptathlon and I went into the Junior Olympics with one goal: break 4,000 points. At regionals I scored around 3700 and I was chasing that 4,000. I’m pleased to say that I achieved my goal and had multiple PRs.

HJ: 1.50m
SP: 7.69m
200m: 26.12
LJ: 5.21m
JT: 17.49m
800m: 2:32.20
Heptathlon: 4071 points

I still have a lot of work to do but for my first time competing in the Hept I am very excited to have achieved my goal and if this summer season has shown me anything it’s that with the Lord anything is possible and how much the power of surrender holds. We can’t do this alone we need Jesus and I will testify to that for the rest of my life. I can’t wait to get back on the track for my senior season this winter and spring. God is so good!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M A STATE CHAMPION! I thought I would never get to experience this moment ever in my life but the Lord had other plans 😊 winning a state championship is a really difficult task and it was never something that I believed I was capable of doing and truthfully I’m not capable of it on my own. The thing that got me through this long day of competition was my friends, coaches, family, and most importantly my Jesus. The Lord provided me with the strength that I needed and he helped me perform to the best of my abilities. This was such a sweet moment in my life and I will never forget the screams coming from all of the people on my side when the final results came in. Thank you Jesus for blessing me with this opportunity to lift up your name and to glorify you. This is all for you Jesus, all Glory goes to you! ❤️🥇💙 by @emmajrees

Wow what a week!! I feel so beyond blessed to be able to showcase all that God has given me at regionals! I never thought that what I accomplished this past week would’ve been possible and the truth is it wouldn’t have been possible without my God! I managed to put up some of my best times this season thanks to my wonderful coaches, supportive family, and most importantly Jesus and the strength he gives me. All that I do I want to bring glory to his name alone because I wouldn’t be where I am today without him and his grace. I’m so excited to compete 3 of my events at state and to compete in the state pentathlon! All I can say is THANK YOU JESUS! I don’t deserve any of this and I feel so so blessed! All Glory goes to God! See you in Murfreesboro!! My times/results were: High jump- 4th place 4’10 Long jump- 1st place 17’1/4
100 hurdles- 1st place 15.99
