A day for the soul ❤️‍🔥

I truly don’t have words to describe how special it is to see our @motionball_kingston event continue to thrive. To be able to team up with the incredible @chrichardson_ has been an absolute dream, with such amazing support from our rockstar committee, some of whom started as close friends and all who’ve become exactly that. We are so lucky.

We had 52 Special Olympics athletes and over 300 motionball supporters out on Saturday, raising $73K and somehow pulling off what felt like our smoothest day yet.

Always my favourite part - seeing the hands fly up in the morning when we ask who’s there for the very first time. Seeing those connections form, the nerves settle, and the smiles crack all day long - there’s truly nothing like it.

The number of local businesses who continue to give and support our cause despite various challenges they face makes me really emotional. Food graciously donated, and support from friends’ businesses thanks to the leadership of so many including @sara_fish14 @chrichardson_ @marshall14_ @tonyvirgin10 @rachyrichardson @kattomasevic @t.g.rogers @kanon_clifford @brockpowell05 @dgreenaway22 @xtineluney and of course Stone House Financial.

From having our best friends’ babies there, to seeing the teenage kids of our original committee members leading their own teams this year, the feeling that motionball events play a powerful role in introducing the next generation to the Special Olympics movement has never been stronger.

The Gilmour Cup for significant contributions to the community went this year to two of my favourite people in the world, @sara_fish14 & @cjszymus, who for 12+ years, while making Kingston their home, have quietly and powerfully created opportunities for the youngest Special Olympics athletes to be active and build community, bringing hope & connection to families navigating challenging new diagnoses.

I’ll always be grateful to have stayed involved this cause, and to do it alongside so many people I care deeply about is such a gift.
