One lap around the sun with our Eamon Deucey surprise. Equal parts sweet and sour. Easy going but full of mischief. You let big brother set the tone but constantly throw a few curve balls to keep us guessing. You can make the best time of any time. Watching you and your brother become best friends has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Boy, oh boy, does rule following big brother have his hands full. You’ve been a surprise since day one, kept us guessing every day since, and make life one big adventure. Golden Meyer Dean 4/10/2024 9lbs 3oz 23 inches The boy of last names. The boy named after three of his great grandfathers. You have great shoes to fill. William J. Golden and John R. Meyer both attended Ivy League schools, served in the navy, loved our country, had an eye for the stock market, a love for trains, and played key roles in building / operating our railroad system with Union Pacific and New York Central Railroad. They both also had a bantering whit, a skill to playfully pester, and a charm that they could get out of any predicament. Although their lives ran parallel I don’t know if they ever met. I like to believe they are enjoying one another’s company, having heated economic debates, and conquering their new world. — All children are gifts from above. Every time a child is born in our family, I think of the Lion King quote: “Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connnected in the great Circle of Life.” When we lose one, we gain another. The day my beloved grandfather passed away is the day we calculated the gestation of the boy of last names. Yes, All children are gifts from above. But every detail of this gift was hand selected specifically for me, and delivered from my grandfather. After a few heartaches in our pregnancy journey - and quite frankly ready to quit out of fear and frustration - this blip appeared unexpectedly, and so did unexpected peace in knowing, that this time, everything would be okay because all decisions were carefully being made by the most calculated man I have ever known. I would give anything for my Papa to be here, holding this precious boy today because he was so devastated with our last heartache - but all I can think of is him telling me what he had told me my entire life until the day he passed: “I knew you and I loved you before you were even born” So, he may have a name that sounds like a law firm, but he and his name have so much meaning and significance. by @emmanning24

🌈❤️‍🩹🐶🎾😭 My best friend of 15 years crossed the rainbow bridge. He went out in Ritz fashion - he did it his way… he fought until the end, was stoic in style, and waited on my permission to take his last breath. The King died in his castle, in his bed, and in my arms. It was a fairytale ending to a story book life. Although there will be a hole in my heart from this day forward, I am not sad. I am so thankful he chose me to be his favorite person and love me more than anything in this world. What an honor. This is what you sign up for when you get a dog. You know this day will come because their lives are way too short. But you do it anyway. Because a love this big is oh so worth it. Given the chance to do every minute of life with him over again, I would, in spite of knowing this is the outcome. “You never know who your enemies are or who to trust. That’s why I love animals so much. You can look into their eyes and know exactly what’s in their heart” His eyes have always been happy, pure joy, and compassion. I’ve always said I’d never let him suffer and when the time came I would be strong for him - but the fear and anxiety of being the only person who makes that call is absolutely daunting. The “what if’s” swirl and make your head spin and second guess maybe this is a mistake, he will get better, this is all so wrong, what does life even look like without him - but when I looked in his eyes he told me. His fight had warn tired and it was time. I wanted to kick, scream, punch, fight and refuse but instead I gave him permission to close his eyes for the last time. I kissed his forehead and rubbed between his eyes and across his eyebrows in the pattern I have since the day he was born to sooth him, told him it was okay, and made sure my face - his favorite face was the last thing he saw because he loved his mom more than anything in the world. I have no doubt, he and Papa are walking along Heavens version of St. Simons Island beach and Ritz is playing fetch after Papa hits his wiffle golf balls #goldenretriever #goldensofinstagram #rainbowbridge by @emmanning24
