my sweet Father,

submission. surrender.

I cannot fathom the extensive peace that You have placed over my being.

Though anger, hurt, and confusion tug at my heart, You have flooded my body with full contentment. Simply, I am calm.

For my worth is not found in earthly works I accomplish, nor am I validated by the rewards man imparts unto me.

Jesus, I have wrestled with You for AGES, trying to gain control of my life- oh Lord- HOW You tested me! Just how WRONG You proved me! For to surrender control is to declare my intent of living solely for YOU.

Lord, only You know how terribly fear has gripped my heart- it crippled my being- I accepted defeat.

But.

Your hand is on my chin, tilting my eyes to meet Your shining face- there, I am met by pastures of green, lilies of white, and waters of calm bliss. You speak the words ringing in my head, “”sin no longer has dominion over me.””

Despite my ignorance, You continue to offer me a hand of welcome and comfort.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for failure. How prominent is Your utter goodness in the face of my shortcomings: how wondrously massive is Your faithfulness in the midst of my pain.

Fear, bitterness, and wrath are dissolved in the tight, everlasting embrace of my beautiful Savior. Amen.
