Thank you to everyone who called, texted, posted, played music, and wished me a happy birthday. I am grateful to be remembered and loved as I begin Chapter 48.

I entered this chapter after one of the largest transitions of my professional life. After nine years at the University of Rhode Island, I now serve as Chair of the Brass Department at Berklee College of Music.

I am grateful for my years at URI. I am grateful for every student I taught, every colleague who supported me, and every friendship formed along the way. Those nine years helped prepare me for this moment.

I am also grateful for the opportunity to lead, serve, teach, and make music at Berklee. I do not take any of it for granted.

God has been faithful through every change, every challenge, and every new beginning.

Here’s to Chapter 48. Life. Purpose. Growth. Grace. And always, music. by @emmettgoods
