Thank you Texas FFA, Area 1, and the Lubbock District for making every moment in this corduroy jacket so incredibly special. An extra special thank you to my mother, for her work behind the scenes, and my father, who is the best friend and the best ag teacher a girl could ask for, whose guidance built the foundation of my love and passion for this wonderful organization.

My FFA journey may have come to a conclusion, but not without preparing me for life. #ffa #texasffa #stateconvention taken in Texas by @emmmaaa_mar

“Blessed are those who love lard, for they shall receive lard life” muttered the Brandfather. Debbiecakes was found sitting in the corner listening intently as Drake read the entire Declaration of Independence. Suddenly, a booming voice, “TERESAHHH! DAHHH!” echoed through the room. It was the ones who deny the origin of Chudiot™ In another room, Austin’s slowly balding head was revealed. “Why are you 1,000mg over your daily recommendation of caffeine?” someone whispered. He just shrugged, then announced, “I want your trash!” Meanwhile, Noah, scribbling intensely, was writing a letter to the freshman girls. Across the room, Ethan, whose favorite food was knee skin, was eyeing the boys stolen energy drinks, thinking, “I’m just Ken = snacks.” A commotion erupted. “KO, me say k me say k me say k-o!” yelled one side. “Soulja’s boyz vs. lil mamas!” retorted the other. Buttercup, threatening to kill everyone, seemed ready for guerrilla warfare. Just then, a prideful, “IM HOMESCHOOLED!” startled Larry. “Take a lap!” Leah shouted. As Tim and Emma slowly turned to Jackson with vacant eyes, a voice boomed, “I live for ya, I long for ya, Olivia, HEY HEY!” Later, in bible class, everyone raised their fists ✊🏽 as Statler began to sing “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. While everyone joined in, Mark Mark Mark gave a 37min anatomy lesson, while someone else commented, “I like your elbows. 😍” They felt a tug on the back of their shirt. A whisper followed “get clipped.” “I woke up feeling the cheesiest coach!” someone declared. Then, a strange announcement: “In case of a nuclear power plant accident, follow this path.” A collective “do the roar!” erupted but before anyone could react, someone tried to refuse knucks, only to accept “Dude, bows!” a voice from nowhere commanded, “SHLD Camp is a bible camp where men from ages 13-20 can learn about service, holiness, leadership, and discipleship.” The day ended with a dramatic moonwalk out of the conversation, leaving everyone wondering what our address was. Before I take a 2nd lap, please, receive the sign!: 🙏🏽 taken in Arrowhead Camp & Retreat Center by @emmmaaa_mar

The hardest goodbye 💌

For twelve years I’ve had the privilege of taking care of these precious animals and for ten of those years I got to show them. Since my father is an ag teacher, I learned at a very young age how to properly take care of animals. I also learned that there is more to showing than just taking your pig into a ring and guiding it around with a stick. You get the beautiful opportunity to maintain life and care for these wonderful animals. I may not have won many buckles and banners, but I made millions of unforgettable memories that I will cherish forever, and I learned so many valuable lessons. I understand the importance of hard work and dedication, I value the gain of life, and mourn the loss of it, and I fully believe that showing is the only reason I am disciplined and coachable in all of my endeavors. Though all the walking, washing, and feeding sometimes liked to present itself as a challenge, I would absolutely do it all again. I am extremely grateful that I got this opportunity to work and provide for these pigs because there was truly nothing more special than laying down in the pen and cuddling with the animals that know, trust, and love you.
