Mae Mae, it’s your Birthday!!! 🤩🎂🩵

When I brought (forced) this small weird creature into my family’s lives, everyone was rightfully a bit hesitant, and the common question was, “What were you thinking?” Truth be told, I also did not know what I was thinking. We had just lost my childhood dog, I was not quite living on my own yet, it was peak COVID era, and she’d already lived so much life in her one year on earth. Mae was abandoned, along with her siblings and mom, and living in a backyard for the first year of her life. When we met, she was fearful of the entire world, mistrusting of humans, terrified to be alone, and had a habit of biting people in the butt (and knee caps for some reason if you’re my brother). Beyond all logical sense, I saw that something in her needed me, and something in me needed her. Not to mention, her name was Gemma and her sister’s name was Starr! Cosmic!

After 6 years of love and patience, you’ve come so far, and I’m so glad I took a chance on you, suga booga! Thank you for being there for me through some of the highest highs and lowest lows of my life. You are one of the MOST loved dogs in the world, without a doubt. 🥲🐾🤍 by @emmyg333

It’s so amazing seeing how many people are inspired by you, and at the same time it’s so hard sharing you with the world. I wish we could go back to the too much red dye, fireworks, mind reading, silly games, fortnite, snapchat filters, and late night sonic runs when one of us needed the other and we still lived minutes apart. I even miss fighting with you on car trips and having to share a bed everywhere we went.

You mean so much to so many people, but you were my sister first.

So congrats, Beanie. I’m cool with letting you go to take pictures with your friends, or watching you from the stands or on TV instead of being by your side. I know I have to let go eventually, but I hope you always save your bearest hugs, biggest belly laughs, and spiciest attitude for your biggest fan.
