New to Emory? Welcome! You’re officially part of EmoryUnite!, the union of 1,700+ graduate workers at Emory.
Having a union means we get to sit across from our employer, demand what we deserve, win it, and secure those gains in a legally binding contract.

But that only works if we’re organized. The more coordinated we are, the more workers who sign cards, and the more of us who are ready to stand together, the stronger we are at the bargaining table.

A contract is only as strong as the organization behind it. So sign your union card. Build the union. Build our ability to fight for a higher raise, better protections and stronger benefits!

We’ll see you at orientation tomorrow, and we also have two upcoming events:
📍 Union Social Dad’s Bar, Aug. 28
📍 GBM, Sept. 1

🚨 BREAKING: WE GOT FLOCK SURVEILLANCE OFF CAMPUS 🚨

🎉📢 After months of public outcry and organizing against mass surveillance at Emory, Flock cameras are coming off our campus.

📣🔥 What began with one Emory community member sounding the alarm grew into a campus-wide movement of students, workers, faculty, patients and community members.✊🏽More than 11 organizations joined together, over 1,000 people signed the petition, and hundreds more helped build the pressure through teach-ins, rallies, marches, worker organizing, public records investigations, media outreach, and direct pressure on the administration.

❤️‍🔥⚡️For months, Emory defended its use of Flock. But as opposition grew on our campus, so did a movement far beyond it. 🌎 From Emory to Athens and Dekalb County, from the Gulf Coast to Denver, communities across the country have been organizing against Flock and forcing institutions to retreat. The cameras are coming down because people organized to bring them down!

⚠️ ✨But our work is not finished. Flock is one company in a much larger racist system of surveillance, policing, and deportation. Emory can replace these cameras with another surveillance vendor, while local police departments that could access our campus camera data maintain 287(g) agreements that enable direct collaboration with ICE. Let this victory remind us that while there is more to fight for, we have the power to win. ✊🏽❤️‍🔥

When we organize and fight, we win!💪🏾✊🏽❤️‍🔥 by @emoryunite

🔔📣 Want to get more involved in organizing and help shape what our union works on this semester? Join our biweekly Organizing Committee (OC) meetings starting this Wednesday!

💪🏾🧱The OC is a space for members and stewards who want to take an active role in building our union by taking responsibility for talking with their co-workers, growing our membership, and moving our members to take action. In addition to engaging with our co-workers, OC members are active in planning organizing efforts, developing campaigns and committees, identifying workplace issues, and building toward our 2027 contract campaign!

✨✊🏽You do not need to be a steward or have prior organizing experience to participate. If you want to help build the union, come join us! by @emoryunite

🗣️🗳️📝 In order to have a voice and a vote in the decisions we make as a union, including running for officer positions, you must be a card signing, dues-paying union member! Sign a card at www.emoryunite.org/join/sign-a-card.

🫂✊🏽❤️ Before the academic year even began, we welcomed several PhD workers in our union as stewards (including first years)! We’re incredibly excited to keep building a strong steward network across every department at Emory. Stewards are the backbone of our union. They connect with coworkers, make sure people know their rights, help address workplace issues, and organize their departments to build the collective power we need to enforce our current contract and win an even stronger one. You don’t need any organizing experience. You just have to care about your co-workers and want to make things better. We provide all the resources, training, and support you need. If you’d like to become a steward, please reach out to us at emoryunite@gmail.com. by @emoryunite

MAY 1 STUDENT WALKOUT!

The Emory administration has refused to address the demands of over 1,000 petitioners to remove Flock cameras that spy for ICE from Emory campus and hospitals.

Across the country, people are taking to the streets. Trump’s approval is sinking, and millions of people are rejecting the billionaire agenda of war, repression, and attacks on working families.

After promising “peace,” Trump has launched a criminal war on Iran, bringing death, destruction, and instability. At home, immigrants are under attack and millions of families cannot make ends meets as the cost of living skyrockets.

This May 1st, join the DeFlock Coalition in a walk out to fight Trump and the billionaire agenda.

Georgia students will continue the fight back against racism by walking out on May 1 to demand an end to U.S. wars and an end to ICE’s terror in our communities.

END THE WARS! STOP ICE! DEFLOCK EMORY!

*Posted on behalf of the DeFlock Coalition. EmoryUnite! bargaining unit members are encouraged to come out during time off to support students and faculty walking out taken in Emory University by @emoryunite

✊🏽💥 On April 10, students, workers, faculty and community members delivered a petition to Emory University to remove Flock surveillance cameras from its campus and hospital. Though lauded as “safety tools”, Flock cameras are part of a nationwide surveillance network that enables cross-jurisdictional tracking by law enforcement agencies. The fight to remove Flock cameras from campus is part of a nationwide struggle against the expanding machinery of deportation and repression. The same system used to monitor immigrants are used to track activists, suppress dissent and normalize permanent surveillance in our schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Removing Flock from Emory is part of the broader fight to dismantle this system.

✊🏽💥 This May Day, join millions across the country standing together against war, deportations, surveillance, and attacks on workers and democratic rights. We call on students, staff, faculty, healthcare workers and community members to WALK OUT and stand together.

🗓️⏰📍 Friday, May 1, 1 PM @ Asbury Circle
