Holding pride of place at the entrance to the #arsenale , as well as in the Australian Pavillion in the #giardini - the country is represented at the 61st Venice Biennale by artist Khaled Sabsabi and curator Michael Dagostino. The exhibition, titled conference of one’s self, is an immersive multimedia installation in the Giardini pavilion exploring Sufi philosophy, spirituality, and shared humanity. Sabsabi is also presenting a parallel piece, khalil, in the main Biennale exhibition, In Minor Keys, in the #Arsenale. Both spaces feature opalescent projections on paintings of epic scale. The individual presentation draws on the 12th-century Sufi poem The Conference of the Birds, placing audiences at the center of the Australia Pavilion to reflect on collective human experience. It features eight screens arranged in an octagon and walls covered in script inspired by Ilm al-Ḥurūf (the Sufi science of letters and numbers). by @emote_worlddotcom

@fondazionedriesvannoten inaugural exhibition - “The Only True Protest is Beauty” - Inspired by activist Phil Ochs, the title frames beauty as a catalyst for intensity, provocation, and transformation.Over the top title and way too much CDG exalted as “Art” IMO (I would have preferred some archival DVN or his hero #Romeogigli and in turn his hero #Fortuny - cause : Venice) but wonderful use of huge images from #stevenshearer in that already epic space and lots of artists using #Murano glass as their medium (will post my favs separately) and exciting Belgian contemporary art placed against #ChristianLacroix . 8 out of 10 and one of the highlights of @labiennale by @emote_worlddotcom
