RIP to Al Festa. When myself and @twoheadeddogmusic started @empireoftombs ,I got Ben on board by approaching Al Festa about a possible release of his remarkable score to Zombie 4: After Death. Not only was Al on board, but he was the absolute coolest, laid back, and professional guy to deal with. He remained a friend and I had hopes of making it to Rome to finally meet in person sooner than later. While that didn’t happen, I am happy to have had a professional relationship with Al and he trusted me to release his music without a question. Thanks for your trust and support Al. I will truly miss your emails and support. If you own any of his music, play it loud for Al. R.I.P. Rossella Drudi. A true maverick writer and creator who was involved in more projects and films in Italy than most people realize. While I never met her in person, I spent a decent amount of time emailing her on and off for the better part of three years and she was an incredibly warm and interesting person to have conversations with. She wrote a piece for an upcoming project that should see fruition later this year via @empireoftombs . She will be missed and it is a great sadness that I’ll never get to see her in person. Happy Valentine’s Day.

When we teamed up with The Tenth Avenue Arts Center to starting bringing Grindhouse programming to San Diego two years ago, we aimed to bring you guys a safe space to go back in time and experience an era of film where things were not so safe. Never in our wildest dreams would we think that one of the kings of the NYC 42nd Street circuit would be down to come out to SD and visit our home grown “IMAX of Grindhouses.” But that’s exactly what’s going to happen on Friday, March 21st. Join us for an unforgettable evening as we welcome the inimitable William Lustig down to San Diego for a special screening of his terrifying masterpiece, MANIAC.

We’re co-presenting the evening with our friends at The Creature Bazaar, Rendezvous, and Empire of Tombs, and they’re going to set the tone for the occasion. Join us when doors open at 6:30, and Rendezvous will be spinning some of the coolest library music and film score content out on the main stage, while a curated walk-in show from The Creature Bazaar plays on the big screen. Gather around, listen to some tunes, and mingle with your peers for an hour, and then get ready for the big show at 7:30.
