Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to represent Clark Atlanta University as a third-year Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at the 2026 American Counseling Association (ACA) of Georgia Symposium, hosted at Mercer University!
I had the privilege of serving as a panelist alongside my colleagues Angelayana, Chandler, and Ishiah, three individuals I have grown alongside both personally and professionally throughout our journey as counselors-in-training. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Angelayana’s presentation, “Who Am I? Exploring Professional Identity Among Counselors-in-Training.”

Sitting on this panel reminded me of my WHY and reaffirmed my aspirations of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). This journey has been nothing short of amazing, challenging, and eye-opening as I continue strengthening my God given gift to encourage, empower, and counsel individuals navigating life’s transitions while striving to become the best versions of themselves.

As I reflect on our discussion surrounding professional identity, I am reminded that this journey is about so much more than earning a degree or obtaining credentials. It is about the lives we will touch, the communities we will serve, the stigma we will challenge, and the spaces we will create for healing.
My goal is to continue being a vessel for healing, advocating for mental health, breaking stigmas within our communities, and reminding others that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Through faith, compassion, and clinical knowledge, I hope to support others through life’s challenges, ensuring no one feels they have to navigate their healing journey alone❤️. taken in Mercer University by @empoweredsafespace

I’m happy to share that I will be returning to Sunflower Counseling Center as an Intern Counselor! Even more exciting, I am now accepting clients throughout the state of Georgia, both in person and through telehealth. 💛

Oftentimes in our community, we think we have to be extremely ill or at our breaking point before seeking therapy. But therapy doesn’t have to begin at your lowest moment.

You can seek therapy when you’re anxious.
When you’re sad or depressed.
When you’re happy but adjusting to a new season of life.
When you’re trying to understand yourself better.
When you’re struggling with conflict, confidence, relationships, goals, or simply figuring out what’s next.

Just as we go to the doctor for a physical checkup, we should make space for a mental checkup too.

When was the last time you asked yourself:

💛 How am I doing mentally?
💛 What has changed about me over the last two years?
💛 What life transition is currently taking a toll on the way I think, behave, or interact with others?
💛 How do I handle conflict?
💛 How do I set goals and accomplish them when I don’t have the resources or support I need?
💛 Am I giving myself space to process everything I’ve been carrying?

All of that is counseling warranted.

My approach to counseling is warm, supportive, and empowering. I want my clients to have a safe space where they can show up as they are, feel heard, and work toward becoming who they want to be.

Hi! I’m Quinteria Woods, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern currently completing my internship at Sunflower Counseling Center while pursuing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Clark Atlanta University🎓❤️🖤🩶

My passion for counseling is rooted in empowerment. I believe people deserve a space where they can show up as they are, unpack what they’re carrying, better understand themselves, and feel supported as they work toward who they want to become.

As a counselor intern, I’m continuing to learn, grow, and develop my identity as a therapist while gaining experience supporting individuals through their own journeys of healing and personal growth.

And no, you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes the first step is simply having a safe place to say, “This is where I am.” 🪷
