I spent years training in every clinical tool modern psychology had to offer.
What I didn’t expect was that the most powerful healing framework I’d ever encounter was already inside my own tradition
What was missing wasn’t more credentials. It was coming home.
This page lives at the intersection of ancient Jewish wisdom and modern nervous system science because your heritage and your healing were never two separate things.
They were always both.
Welcome home. 🕯️

5 Jewish moments to add to your day if you want to heal your nervous system.

Your ancestors weren’t just being religious. They were building a daily nervous system reset one small moment at a time.

Smelling challah. Kissing the mezuzah. Whispering modeh ani. These aren’t coincidences. They’re medicine.

Save this. Your nervous system will thank you.

Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan. Behavioral science calls it the fresh start effect: new beginnings make new habits stick. Judaism scheduled one every 29 days. What’s your new-moon reset? 🌙

Posting this on October 7 on purpose. Three years later, we’re still gathering the sparks.

Kabbalah mapped trauma 400 years before therapy named it.

Shevirat ha-kelim. The breaking of the vessels. Infinite light, shattered containers, sparks scattered everywhere.

Your job isn’t to be unbroken. It’s to gather the sparks.

Which slide hit you hardest?

My degree taught me therapy. Judaism taught me healing.

Grief has a calendar. Healing lives in the body. Rest is a commandment. You can hold both. Repair beats perfection.

Thousands of years of practice. My degree just gave me the language for it.

Which one hit you hardest?

Five things Judaism and neuroscience agree on.

The Shabbat table, Modeh Ani, tzedakah, kneading challah, and minyan. Thousands of years of practice, and the research is just now catching up.

Which one hit you?

Research says the people who heal best can laugh while they grieve.

If joy has been showing up inside your grief and you’ve felt guilty about it, this is for you. Bonanno’s bereavement research found that genuine smiles and laughter while talking about loss predicted better adjustment, not worse.

Joy wasn’t avoidance. It was part of how they carried it.

Today a co-pilot tried to crash Flydubai flight 1073, full of Israelis. The passengers stormed the cockpit, tied him up, and lived. When they touched down in Tel Aviv, they sang.

That song is not denial. It is the nervous system completing the stress cycle, and it is the oldest Jewish response we have. After the sea split, we sang.

And this is how we as Jews show up: with joy. Not because we weren’t terrified, but because joy is how we refuse to let terror have the last word.
