You’ve been warned 😩 by @emwillettauthor

We’re all in this together 🫶🏻 (Privately, from the comfort of our own homes, when we feel ready to socialize of course 😂) by @emwillettauthor

I write for women who spent their lives shrinking and crave soft FMCs who blossom into power.

I write for those who are comforted by darkness and think the average expected “dark” fantasy pulls punches and just doesn’t cut it.

I write for readers who are tired of romantasy that all feels the same and crave a unique voice and stories with impeccable vibes, that also force thought.

Mostly, though, I write because I must.

Follow @emwillettauthor if it sounds like I write for just for you… I probably do 🥀 by @emwillettauthor

Me querying by @emwillettauthor

When an assassin kills her sisters on his beloved’s orders, the last water spirit crashes into his mind and refuses to leave — forcing him to choose between the woman he loves and the creature he swore to eliminate.

THE ASSASSIN’S SOUL 🗡️ is a dark fairytale inspired by the myth behind The Little Mermaid.

It will appeal to readers who love lush, atmospheric prose, mythological retellings and tragic romances, perfect for those captivated by the gothic beauty of The Knight and the Moth and the mythic melancholy of The Witch’s Heart.

Odine is an undine, a water spirit who has spent centuries aside her sisters luring men to their deaths in their isolated mountain spring. Men are fleeting things, their lives as forgettable as the ripples they leave behind.

Until one is sent to kill her.

Roch is Cinderwall’s deadliest assassin, forged into a weapon as a child, tasked with destroying the spirits who haunt his beloved, the Queen.

When Odine possesses Roch to escape death, she does not expect to feel anything, much less fall in love. Trapped in his body, she experiences a world of sensation, memory and devotion. Through his eyes, she learns what it means to be human. Through his heart, she learns what it means to love. He experiences belonging for the first time.

But their bond was never meant to last.

As Odine gains her body and heart, then, her mind, Roch loses more and more of his soul to her nature. As long as she lives and loves him, she will continue to consume him, until he dies.

In the end, Roch learns to love too late. Odine chooses the only freedom left to her. And the love they found — rare, impossible — becomes the very thing that destroys and immortalizes them.

The Assassin’s Soul 🗡️will break your heart and change the way you think 👀👀👀 you will not be able to finish it without crying. Follow @emwillettauthor if this sounds like your thing 🤍 by @emwillettauthor

I am perpetually floored by the overwhelmingly positive beta reader feedback THE ASSASSIN’S SOUL 🗡️ has gotten!! 🥰

And if you’re not following @elizajaneillustrations you should be. She’s an absolute doll and a stunningly talented artist. Authors, totally reach out if you want her to bring your characters to life like she did Roch and Odine!!

Ps - She’s working on some new illustrations for me and you guys are not ready 😩

THE ASSASSIN’S SOUL 🗡️

A tragically romantic feminist retelling of the dark myth behind The Little Mermaid, like if Prince Eric was an assassin sent to kill Ariel 😍

I printed it out for my mom and got sucked into reading the ending last night and broke my own heart again 💔
