Looong story, but I had to walk away from the farm I’ve been helping to build since April. Not easy to do considering all the amazing food being left behind. unfortunately, I suspect most of it will now go to waste...but me and my friend Carly managed to coordinate with the SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) coordinator for the county we were in, who put us in touch with an organization called head start. Through head start we were able to use our last week on farm to harvest, wash and bag enough produce to feed 109 families, which we are pretty darn proud of.

I set out a yr ago to just work a season on a farm I admired in order to figure out if this was what I wanted to dedicate my time and energy to (we are only given so much of each, ya know). Even after putting so much of this time and energy into something that will likely be destroyed by next season, I can honestly say that I only feel more committed and confident in my goal of raising the best food possible for as many kinds of people as possible.

Not sure what form this’ll take, but excited about what may come my way next.

Anybody wanna start farming with me? by @en_freeman

So my sister did this thing where she grew a human inside of her (women are AMAZING) and as of Monday this little person is now here with us! I am so so proud of everything @stephanie_haley and @jdp.999 have already done for the little guy and cant believe I’ll get to witness them raising the next gen of our family. I met him for the first time yesterday and it felt like my heart was gonna explode. I can’t imagine what being someone’s parent must feel like! Anyways, in such a crazy world it sure means a lot that beautiful things continue to happen. Time to work even harder to make sure this kid gets the future he deserves ❤️ lots of love to all y’all! by @en_freeman

Happy to report that the ducks have been enjoying the pond. When they saw me they came ashore to see if I had brought them anything good. I’d come with two buckets filled with amaranth we cleared from pathways. We have a bit of an amaranth problem over here. But the ducks seemed to enjoy it, so there’s that by @en_freeman

all the ducks are finally free! near the pond, the habitat they thrive in. Access to our small orchard too. Seems they’re still getting used to it 🦆 I’ll be checking in with them again soon by @en_freeman

It’s kinda pretty out here. Those dark specks in the field are all cows. So many cows everywhere. Sometimes a horse or two. And in one spot a zebra??? by @en_freeman

his song “recipe for truth and lasting happiness” is the perfect little balm for the times we’re living in. Everything feels a little better for 4 minutes. I can’t stop listening to it. Thanks s.e. rogie! by @en_freeman
