💡 #EnabelSuccessStory

🇸🇳 In Senegal, access to healthcare can still be a financial challenge for pregnant women.

With Enabel’s support, the Departmental Health Insurance Units in Foundiougne and Koungheul made health coverage more accessible to women during and after pregnancy. 🤰

The impact ?
✨ 30,000+ women covered in 3 years
✨ Coverage in Foundiougne rose from 56% to 98%
✨ Coverage in Koungheul rose from 46% to 102%
✨ 200,000 members in the schemes in 2025, including 104,000+ women

By reducing financial barriers and strengthening health services, this approach is helping more women access the care they need - while giving families greater financial protection. 🤝

Solidarity requires investment — but it also has to deliver.

During UNGA, I spoke with @jeanvanwetter of @enabel_be , the Belgian development agency, about what gives him hope in a difficult global moment.

Despite all the headlines about division and countries turning inward, people haven’t given up on working together.

A new @rockefellerfdn survey of more than 35,000 people across 34 countries found that 57% still believe their country should cooperate with other countries to solve global problems, even when that requires compromise.

But people also want cooperation to deliver. Around 8 in 10 said they would be more supportive of countries working together if they could see it actually solving problems, either globally or at home.

At a time when development budgets are under pressure, we need to show what investment actually achieves — children learning, families accessing healthcare, communities gaining electricity, and people finding economic opportunity.

Solidarity matters. But solidarity backed by investment, measurable results and accountability is how we sustain public support for it.

🇲🇦 Meet two young professionals contributing to Enabel’s work in Morocco.

Anissa and Inas worked in different regions of Morocco, supporting partner organisations through vocational training, workshops, capacity strengthening and grant management. 🤝

For both, the experience was about much more than work: it was about learning, growing and discovering international cooperation from the inside. ✨

🌍 Cooperation in motion, the numbers

Nearly 24,000 people have gained access to fundamental rights and quality essential services.

Across Burkina Faso, Morocco and Uganda, Enabel contributes to improving access to essential public services. In Uganda, refugee children are supported to integrate into schools in host communities.
