⭐ Featured WINGMAN ⭐

Meet Jeff Lucas, Vice President of Encore Trucking and Transport Ltd. and one of this year’s WINGMEN!

Encore is a family business celebrating 45 years this year, and Jeff has been part of the company for about 22 years. He also runs Cheshire Productions, works with Backside Tours and recently announced Edmonton Wing Fest, coming in fall 2027.

Jeff’s connection to supporting families impacted by family violence began through Encore. Several years ago, the company helped with projects at safe houses, where Jeff and his family learned more about the challenges women and children can face when leaving abuse, including shelters reaching capacity. Encore began purchasing hotel rooms to help women and children when shelters were full.

For Jeff, it reinforced how important it is for communities to be there for people leaving dangerous situations.

“Nobody deserves to get left behind and people need communities that lift them up.”

Jeff brought two meaningful items for his WINGMAN photos. The first is Encore’s Boom and Burn Bundle, a collection of hot sauces created to give back to the community, with $5 from every bottle made donated to charity.

He also brought his grandfather Frank Lucas’s handmade hard hat from 1976, when he worked as a drilling superintendent near Ahvaz, Iran. The hard hat represents Jeff’s grandparents, Frank and Elinor Lucas, who laid the foundation for their family business and have always been an inspiration to Jeff.

What a great couple of days! We had an amazing time being up in Fort Mac on the 16th & 17th for the Oil Sands Expo connecting with familiar faces, meeting new people and catching up with others in the industry.

A little behind the scenes of a pretty unique delivery. ☁️💡

Before we could flip a switch, electric light was seen as a force near miraculous. In 1874, Canadian inventors Henry Woodward and Mathew Evans patented an early light bulb in Toronto before selling it to Thomas Edison in 1879. ⚡

Opening tomorrow, August 29, The Light Fantastic explores how light evolved from a disruptive 19th-century invention to an everyday commodity, and how contemporary artists are restoring its original sense of magic. Curated by Catherine Crowston, this exhibition features immersive installations that re-infuse common domestic light with wonder.

A special thank you to the artist duo of Caitlind Brown (@incandescentcloud) and Wayne Garrett (@waynepgarrett), and to @encoretrucking for helping us get CLOUD into the gallery. Germaine Koh (@germkoh) was here installing the AGA site-specific version of The Haunting, working closely with our preparation team to bring this exhibition to life!
