Artist Spotlight💡- CharlestheFirst

Genres dissolved into raw emotions and sound became an intimate experience anytime Charles was on stage. A brief glimpse into his discography shows you the true genius and passion that this man enveloped. In his far too brief 6 years of bringing beauty and magic to our cities he released music that I can only describe as…healing…every little melody or beat seemed so intricately and intentionally placed as if destined to be there to pull on your heart in every which way. He was more than a producer, lyricist, and DJ, he was an experience all his own.

Growing up writing poetry greatly contributed to his profound lyricism and the depths that could be reached with him. Charles hit hard into the scene in 2015, giving a double dose of timeless releases with his Wanderer EP and Roots EP. He had everyone in the palm of his hands, someone with a sound so unique that was so deeply rooted in Hip-Hop and ambiance. He’d go onto release several acclaimed EPs/LPs, each one feeling like a story that you could form your own words to. Charles, along with Supertask and Potions, would form the project /collective Lab Group, a genre bending project/collective consisting of the trio and other talented performers.

Unfortunately in 2021, Charles sadly passed away, leaving behind a very well preserved legacy that his friends and fans make sure to carry onward by @encyclopediaedm

Artist Spotlight💡- @5ammusic_
📸- @ethan_klement_

Representing the city of Philadelphia, Instrumentalist/producer/DJ triple threat 5AM fuses jazz, downtempo beats, vibey funk, hypnotic melodies and beyond with his project. He combines his 16 years of producing/DJing with his decade long and increasing passion for playing the keys to bring forth some of the most unique sounds in the industry right now.  5AM was also originally a guitarist before making the hard pivot to the keyboard-primarily due to the fact that he had unlimited possibilities of sound at his disposal with a keyboard, allowing him to represent himself even more creatively in his work.

5AM has been hard at work, having  released the debut 5AM Trio album “Esoterra” along with trio members @zonedrums and Keith of @waxfuture . He’s also recently cooked up a hot tune with collaborator @devinkroesmusic titled “Braving The Elements”, which released on @therustmusic 100 Compilation. On the horizon he has even more he’s cooking up, including a remix of @entangled_mind and multiple upcoming collaborations with artists including but not limited to @3420music , @__thoughtprocess , and @duffrey . You can catch him throwing down this summer at Fourth on the Farm in PA, where he’ll be headlining with 5AM Trio. He’ll also be throwing down at @secretdreamsfest performing a solo set before the Thought Process sunrise set on Friday Night.

When asked about his inspirations in the scene or artists that are doing interesting things he said the following-
“So of course I gotta shoutout my Trio brothers ZONE Drums & Keith of Wax Future, but this is tough cause there are SO many inspiring and slept-on artists in the scene, and I don’t want to state the obvious ones, so I’ll give some more “undiscovered” ones - @sycamore__sound , @psybursonic , @cumulus_frisbee , @wickers_portal , and this Danish jazz quartet called @clapper.music . The homie @noahfensemusic just put out an awesome hip-hop album as well.”

An important thing to note about 5AM is his absolute love for music , whether that be making it, talking about it, or playing it, and as such, he offers 1-1 Ableton lessons on his website linked in his bio! by @encyclopediaedm

Artist Spotlight💡- @aurachildbeatz

Hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, AuraChild is on the rise with a diverse artillery of tunes for a wide array of listeners. His journey into his project started when he began producing 5 years ago, with DJing following a couple years later. He loves incorporating his talents as an instrumentalist into his sets and tracks by blending in electric guitar. He feels that this gives the tracks a particular human vibe that many folk connect with. He also recently ran live vocals for the first time with his creative partner Tommi singing live, emphasizing that she absolutely crushed it!

He just recently released a fire EP called “ASTIGMATIZING”, now streaming on all platforms, and had his EP release party/event on 6/26 at an almost sold out venue! He recently opened up for Shlump and Zoska on a two night run back in March, and has played direct support for a slew of other prominent artists including Dirt Monkey, Buku, and Jaenga

“I really love making music similar to LSDream and CloZee but with a funky, rockin element mixed in. Introspective, yet makes you want to dance uncontrollably! Defunk and Vincent Antone are great examples of the style I’m going for, but maybe a bit more psychedelic and rockin. That said, I find myself listening to more experimental or eclectic bass music when I’m in that listening zone like Common Creation, Jade Cicada, Mr. Bill, Tipper of course, Crawdad Sniper, etc”. - AuraChild by @encyclopediaedm

Artist Spotlight💡- @rllymusic

¿Rlly? brings her unique flavor of bass from Tampa, originally hailing from the DMV scene out of West Virginia. Her beginnings into music started with picking up DJing 6 years back, and would start her producing journey about three years ago. DJing has a major influence on the way she writes music, always thinking about how a track is going to feel in a live setting, this lead her to a true sound that represents who she is as an artist.

She has new music en route that fully encompasses what her project is about, built around creating an experience that people can actually feel. The biggest thing behind the project right now is creating an experience where people can disconnect from everything else for a while and just be present. She wants it to focus on immersion, emotion, and growth through her own journey, and she’s excited for people to see this new era

There’s multiple artists in the game doing unique things but there’s a few ¿Rlly? wanted to shout out. An artist that’s really inspired her is @hershe , by showing that you don’t have to fit into one lane. Seeing her combine beatboxing with bass music and make it her own has pushed ¿Rlly? to be more confident in bringing her own ideas into her music. @mantrasounds is someone she really respects because she blends her own rap into bass music in a way that feels original. @aleasounds is an upcoming bass music producer and vocalist who’s doing some really interesting things with her sound.

Artist Spotlight💡- @custoofficial

Philly’s CUSTO is one to note in the bass music game. He’s been DJing and producing for roughly a decade now, getting pretty serious with his producing skills when the Covid lock down was occurring. He took that lockdown time to watch major artists like Jauz and Wax Motif stream on Twitch and take notes from them.

He’s currently sitting on tons of unreleased tunes that he plans to both self release and release under labels that he’s been in talks with. He plans on having a track wrapped up by mid July that he’s very excited to share! He also has a bunch of collabs coming up with artists such as D!lemma, JustJames, Boutta, and a remix of “Take a Step Back” by Dr. Fresch with Siroch that Dr.Fresch himself has been a big time supporter of. You can catch CUSTO throwing down this summer at Unity Fest in New Jersey and at Big Dub in Pennsylvania.

CUSTO typically prefers to let his music and shows speak for him, but one massive thing he wanted to relay is his artist project began as a form of therapy and an escape from the consistent loudness in our heads. It gave him an outlet to release what he truly feels. The writing process helps him slow down and lock in to focus on one task, and he loves making music with a passion, it’s helped him in so many ways that he’s grateful for. He wants to lead with being a good person first, helping friends and the general public where he can, and make music that’s full of fun energy that people can dance to, but also to keep evolving as an artist through his outlet.

Some major artists in the scene that CUSTO gets inspiration from include Taiki NuLight, Caspa, Ternion Sound, Borne, Arya, Alexis B, Eazybaked, Zero, Xaebor, Shizz lo, and Saka. On a more local level some artists he gets inspiration from include D!lemma, JustJames, Boutta, Siroch, Chehz, Alice D, Sweat Technique, Dank Street, Machetti, and Redline District. He also wanted to shout out the homies at Aspire Higher. by @encyclopediaedm

Artist Spotlight💡- @dvltzmusic

Texas based producer/DJ DVLTZ started producing at a young age, often creating tracks with limited resources at his disposal, and wherever he was able to make it happen, even in his high-school’s library. This would eventually lead him to picking up DJing and showcasing his skills at local parties. Since then, he has nonstop worked on his producing and DJ skills to the point where he was noticed by artists like David Guetta, Rawtek, Ape Drums, and FVGHT CLUB.

His upcoming release, “TR3S”, blends Latin dance music with European influences, reflecting both his cultural roots and the global evolution of dance music. He calls this signature sound “Sonido de la Calle”, a unique fusion of underground Latin influences and electronic music when can be heard in tracks of his like “Chaka” and “Súbele”.

Some artists that have really influenced him and his project are Avicii, Deorro, and Hardwell by @encyclopediaedm
