Served two blocks today all for the love of taking steps towards restoring community pride. Although we didn’t take pictures on the 2700 block of Hemberger, it was great seeing neighbors giving a helping hand to the block captain. She’s a loving human being who I respect and admire. I know we all can be “rightfully” tough on police at times including myself but in fairness I would like to highlight 39th District, Sergeant Sumpter who demonstrates strong leadership, service, and dignity.Lastly, I closed out the Saturday street cleaning on the 2700 block of Taylor St. in honor of Mr. Herb who recently passed but his legacy lives on through us. Our brown brothers are walking through alleys and using a food truck as a vehicle for a construction job in the heart of North Philly. We can critique groups that exploit our communities with no intent to giveback but we should also take notes. There was a time when we were forced to stick together because we were constantly terrorized but somewhere along the way we began contaminating our culture with elitist individualism and forgot how to build together and value the power of self-education.It’s necessary that we accept the reality that we’ve been indoctrinated socially over the last few decades. The internet, music, and entertainment has trained to chase attention to get paid by anti-black employers that will fund your dreams if you’re not rebellious against racial domination. P.S. We built thriving communities like Black Wall Street when we had far less although they were destroyed by racist hate groups but now in 2026, the greatest threat to us advancing is our own self-hatred and doubt.As we all witness gentrification aggressively exploit families while they are financially weak, it’s up to us to preserve our communities by standing for something while we can.Truthfully, we have a few years to protect each other from predators that want to take from us. We don’t need anybody to come save us because making it out was the only goal, not coming back to pull others up from below — that’s our job at this point in history. Thanks to my good brother for making sure I’m straight while visiting Atlanta, introducing me to his people, and being living proof of what real hard work yields when you move to a new city and bet on yourself. The 22nd Street Cleanup was a success!This cleanup gave us the opportunity to engage with friends, family, and neighbors in the area while also networking and fellowshipping with people who share a common love for the community.Special thank you to @noodles.mor for allowing us to use their store as our HQ for the day, @shopnasgfx for capturing some of the clips, @the.healn.space and @patriothomecarepa for sponsoring the refreshments, and @reallex82 for coming through with the morning coffee and donuts.Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out, lent a hand, and showed that you care about keeping the community clean. by @endangered_kind
