Your prep starts today, whether your next race is coming up soon or it’s not until 2026.
There are multiple factors as to why having a coach is crucial.

1: of course, a training plan- this comes without asking, but yet many coaches fail to really dive into what you need to get better. And that’s focusing on where you need it. The stuff you don’t want to do on your own.

2: Accountability and Motivation- when you know you’re putting a little skin in the game you know have eyes on you. A good coach helps find accountability and intrinsic motivation. And of course, having people you rely on gives you the edge to push forward.
Regular check-ins and encouragement can boost motivation, especially during challenging times or when progress feels slow, making it easier to stay committed to the training program.

3: Support and Confidence-This covers more than, “hey which gels do you like?”
This is about Embracing the Journey. Learning how to navigate life, training, emotions, mentality, and having faith your ability to push through.

A coach can greatly enhance your experience, leading to improved performance, greater enjoyment of the sport, and a stronger sense of community.

The trainer isn’t making you weaker. It’s just making you painfully aware of every single minute. 😂

Getting my own athletes to appreciate indoor training can be a challenge, too. But coaching isn’t just about prescribing workouts. It’s helping athletes understand WHY we’re doing them and how they contribute to their goals.

Winter is coming, and for many triathletes, that means an opportunity to work on the weaknesses that held them back this season.

Want to make next season your strongest yet? Book a coaching call or shoot me a DM, and let’s get to work.

Train smart. Train hard. And train with a purpose. ⚡️

There’s nothing glamorous about running on a treadmill.

No finish line. No cheering crowds. No medal waiting at the end.

Just you, the work, and the decision to keep showing up…and maybe a tablet. 😉

Some sessions build endurance. Others build speed. And some are simply about maintaining consistency when life doesn’t give you perfect conditions.

Every workout doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be worthwhile.

The little things you do consistently become the big things you’re capable of accomplishing.

Trust the work.

Embrace the journey.

FREE WORKOUT 🚴‍♀️ Super Saturday Tempo Builder

Wondering what to do today? Try the RTS Racing Super Saturday ride: 90 minutes of mixed intensity.

The idea: to raise your tempo, you have to spend time just above it. Surges to 90–95% FTP with dips back to tempo (not full rest) teach your body to clear fatigue while it’s still working. Hello, stronger race pace 💪

Swipe for the full session 👉
Seated, 80–90 rpm on every main set. Practice fueling, get your carbs in.

🚨 The 80/20 rule isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach.

Zone 2 supports mitochondrial development and aerobic durability, while high-intensity training can be a powerful, time-efficient stimulus for improving VO₂max. 🫀⚡

The secret? Finding the right balance between training stimulus, total volume, and your ability to recover. Your training should fit YOUR physiology, training history, and lifestyle—not someone else’s percentages.

I’m curious to hear…

MONDAY MOTIVATION ⚡️

Everybody wants the big result. The PR. The breakthrough. The moment when all the work finally pays off.

But those moments are built through the smaller things we do consistently.

The easy sessions. The hard sessions. The recovery days. The meals. The sleep. The days when motivation isn’t particularly high, but you still do what needs to be done.

Progress isn’t always obvious from one day to the next. Sometimes you won’t recognize how far you’ve come until you look back at where you started.

So don’t get caught up trying to make every day extraordinary.

Focus on making each day count.

Small improvements. Repeated consistently. That’s how you build something bigger.

New week. Keep showing up.

Embrace The Journey. ⚡️

Nutrition + training is more about a plan than fits your lifestyle than “being perfect”

Because…
• there is more than one way to do things.
• sometimes life is HAPPENING.
• goals shift.
• your body tells you rest >>>.

It’s cool to do both 💗

LACTATE: ONE OF THE MOST MISUNDERSTOOD TOOLS IN ENDURANCE PERFORMANCE. 🩸📈

Lactate isn’t your enemy. It’s a valuable fuel source, a key metabolic intermediate, and one of the most useful tools we have for understanding endurance performance.

Your body produces lactate when it breaks down glucose for energy. Lactate can be transported between tissues and used as fuel by muscles, the heart, and other organs. In fact, it’s one of the body’s preferred oxidative fuels under the right conditions.

So, how do we use it to improve performance?

Meet LT1 & LT2.

🔹 LT1 — First Lactate Threshold: The first sustained rise in blood lactate above baseline. It helps us understand your aerobic capacity, sustainable endurance intensity, and how efficiently you can produce and utilize energy.

🔹 LT2 — Second Lactate Threshold: The higher-intensity transition where lactate begins accumulating more rapidly. It helps us understand your ability to sustain harder efforts and identify key training intensities for race performance.

🚨 Here’s where athletes and coaches get it wrong:

There is NO universal lactate value that defines LT1 or LT2. They aren’t automatically 2.0 or 4.0 mmol/L.

They are identified by analyzing your individual lactate response and finding the relevant inflection points in your data. Simply seeing a number on a lactate meter and declaring your thresholds can lead to inaccurate training zones and misguided programming.

This is why a FULL lactate analysis matters. The protocol, your individual response, and the shape of your lactate curve all matter when interpreting your thresholds.

Lactate testing is a powerful tool for performance prediction, training prescription, and tracking physiological adaptations over time—but only when the data is collected and interpreted correctly.

🩸 I offer lactate testing and individualized data interpretation to help athletes understand their physiology, dial in their training zones, and turn data into better race-day performance.

Stop guessing your zones. Start understanding your physiology.

The early mornings. Missing time with loved ones. The money spent. The fatigued body. The exhausted mind. Early bedtimes. The hyper-focus on every single detail. Saying no when you want to say yes. Choosing the process when it would be easier to choose comfort.

All of these sacrifices… and still falling short.

It’s heartbreaking. 💔

Because sometimes you can give everything you have and still not get the result you wanted.

But ultimately, that’s part of the process.🧱

Failing is a guarantee in sport and in life. You’re going to fall short. You’re going to question whether all the sacrifice is worth it. You’re going to have moments where you wonder if you should have chosen differently.

But you don’t get better without failing.

Maybe that’s the hardest part to understand: the goal was never to reach a point where you no longer have to struggle. The goal is to become someone who can keep going through it.

Because even when you win, you go right back to the process.

Back to the early mornings.
Back to the sacrifice.
Back to the details.
Back to pushing your limits.
Back to getting better.

The result is temporary. The process is what stays.

So here’s to embracing the highs. Learning from the lows. And relentlessly showing up.

That’s the process. Trust it. 🖤

Sometimes the hardest part of training isn’t the physical work. It’s what’s going on between your ears.

Life happens. Races don’t always go as planned. Motivation fades. And sometimes those little thoughts of doubt, frustration, and disappointment start getting louder than everything else.

You don’t have to figure it all out today.

You don’t have to get back to where you were in one workout.

Just focus on what’s directly in front of you.

The next rep.
The next set.
The next breath.

Make your world a little smaller. Give yourself something manageable to accomplish, and build from there.

Every small victory helps rebuild your confidence, your resilience, and your willingness to face the next challenge.

You don’t have to conquer everything at once.

Just keep moving forward.

Embrace the journey.

More isn’t always better. Better is better.

You can train six days a week and still make less progress than someone training four.

The difference isn’t necessarily how much work you’re putting in. It’s whether that work is producing the adaptations you’re looking for.

A well structured training plan balances intensity, volume, frequency, and recovery. And your nutrition and sleep need to support all three.

The goal isn’t to see how much training you can squeeze into your week. It’s to make the most of the time you have available.

Train with purpose. Recover with intention. Let the fitness come.

Embrace. Enjoy. Endure.

#KONER - When you’re not racing - it’s busy AF
- Worked for @slowtwitch
- On stage for underpants run (dream come true)
- Failed Mauna Kea by 1%
- Saw all my industry friends and RTS partners
- Trained a good bit
- One square meal per day

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I made my rounds as an athlete, influencer, hype man, fan boy, CEO, videographer and general idiot. Time to get my ass to Kona as an athlete before I retire.

Thanks for the good times - seriously, had a blast.
