Contracting has been wildly busy over the summer months so it's great to have a few days to knock out a heap of bespoke chopping/serving boards. Made from thick & robust bamboo with a non-slip cork on one side. Unfortunately you can't smell the homemade beeswax based natural oil that gets hot soaked into each one. taken in Te Anau - Milford Sound - New Zealand by @enduringdesignsnz

***Comment if you'd like these on the website*** We were asked if we could do a large chopping board from something tough but natural, and if we could do non-slip. We had to branch out of NZ for material but got to hand make a super durable, extra thick, bamboo chopping board with a cork backing. The cork is a natural anti-slip and a great surface to flip over and put a trivet on. We used a NZ beeswax based paste (we make ourselves) to condition the bamboo (I also use it as lip balm). With the cork being hydrophobic it dries easily, is super easy to take care of, looks stunning (might be biased) and will one day in the distant future be a positive addition to our soil structure and not micoplastics (watch out for those polyurethane finishes). taken in Te Anau - Milford Sound - New Zealand by @enduringdesignsnz

After working through Easter to keep on top of orders we're having a couple of days off. With a perfect weather forecast and Fiordland on our doorstep we needed to get out there and you just can't beat this. We're so proud to be able to hand make our flatpack shelves just down the road from this. We might be a touch slower getting back to you than we usually are but we'll be back in full swing later this week...stay in touch! #fiordland #fiordlandnationalpark #localbusiness #handmade #madeinnewzealand #buynzmade by @enduringdesignsnz

Introducing the KĀTOTE to our lineup! Designed to allow typical book sizes, a smaller set of pockets for those annoying bits that float around without a home and open top integral book ends, we think this is perfect for so many spots around the home or office. It also works great for shorter gum boots.

Our NZ grown and made low emission plywood is in stock and ready for your order on our website. Hand built, flatpacked and delivered to your door from Te Anau. Enjoy our super simple slot together no-tool assembly. Too easy. #nzmade #madeinnewzealand #flatpack #handmade #buynzmade taken in Te Anau - Milford Sound - New Zealand by @enduringdesignsnz

We've been Insta-quiet for a few days whilst we have been fulfilling orders and getting the KĀTOTE ready for the website. Whilst our Aotearoa handmade shelves are amazingly flexible, some styles just lend themselves to a particular job. Images and dimensions coming as soon as we can (we're pretty excited). Can't wait to share this one with you. #handmade #nzmade #madeinnewzealand #buynzmade #flatpack taken in Te Anau - Milford Sound - New Zealand by @enduringdesignsnz

Another project installed! A short stay accommodation pantry to replace the existing shelves. The client gave us the dimensions of the space and items and let us get into it. Guests can see what they have available to them, with every item neatly laid out. Guest and client feedback was overwhelmingly positive, really stoked they had the faith in us to come up with a solution. If you like these shelves, feel free to get in touch and ask for a matching custom model of locally made flatpack, slot-together plywood shelves, no tools needed. #handmade #flatpack #nzmade #madeinnewzealand #buynzmade #localbusiness taken in Te Anau - Milford Sound - New Zealand by @enduringdesignsnz

We had a really interesting time designing and building this fully bespoke version for a local B&B. With really tight tolerances we worked closely with the client to make sure they got what they were after; and we both think it looks really neat! The locally grown and made plywood compliments the natural vibes of the house nestled in the native bush. Form and function complimenting each other without using exotic materials or global distribution networks. #nzmade #madeinnewzealand #handmade #buynzmade #flatpack taken in Lake Manapouri, NZ, South Island by @enduringdesignsnz

A big thank you to Jamie @enduringdesignsnz for our awesome new display shelf.

Enduring Designs is a new local business, which uses New Zealand grown and made plywood to create flat pack furniture, handmade right here in Te Anau.

With a simple slot together design, an instructional video and step by step labelling - assembly was quick and easy. So easy, my kids did most of it!
The quality and finish of these shelves is clear to see and feel.
These tick a lot of boxes for us and we are so chuffed to be able to showcase it in store...

We aimed to make the shelves easy to build and we're so humbled by the confidence shown by @milfordroadmerchant to get the kids to do it! (Under supervision of course). Our nifty design keeps the shelves rigid, but still flatpacks small enough to allow a courier to deliver to your doorstep rather than paying expensive freight. You don't even need tools to put it together! All grown and made at home in Aotearoa, reducing product transport environmental impacts and supporting local. #handmade #madeinnewzealand #flatpack #buynzmade #notoolassembly #nzmade taken in Milford Road Merchant by @enduringdesignsnz
