Day 65: San Fran to Boston, 3000 miles

I’m on the plane home. So this could be weird, retracing two month’s worth of work in 5 hours. Apologies for the delay on posting fam but the whirlwind finish into San Fran coupled with a post-TransAm meltdown in Big Sur had me navelgazing for a couple days. I think whatever I write here will be sorely insufficient to capture the experience of the last two months. Whatever pictures I pick, I could choose a hundred more and it still wouldn’t do the story justice. So that’s my excuse on the delay here, or maybe I just didn’t want to say goodbye to the journey.
I don’t know exactly why I was loathe to pick up the internetcrackpipe (iPhone) in the last 10 days but as you might be able to tell, the final 13-day cannonball run from Utah to San Fran was another mental and physical doozy. My posts went from multi-page thoughtpieces about God-knows-what to a half-assed list of all the different shit that happened during the day, and then dwindled to nothingness. In my defense the cell signal was a donut most of the time and AT&T was throttling me on roaming networks, so I basically put it away for several days as it would just frustrate me to no end. Whatever way you slice it, Bike the US for MS 2019 TransAm Edition is in the history books, and I couldn’t have imagined what a gamechanger it would be. The last few days were reminiscent of leaving a study abroad semester: emotions are high, adrenaline is waning, exhaustion has kicked in, hangovers are evident, yet you still have to get all your shit packed and logistics taken care of, all while maintaining an air of “nah I’m totally not freaking out” about never seeing most of these people that you just shared a crazy experience with in the preceding months.
So with a few days to distill the storm down to get a bit of perspective, I have no wisdom or revelations to share, but I do have a lot of random shit in my head for anyone who cares to read. Here’s a few of them:
1. “The Team, the Team, the Team.” - First and foremost, it’s always the people that make the experience. I wrote a lot about my personal trials and tribulations during this trip; falling off my bike and by @enelson11
