Last chance to see, open until September 5: Guy Yanai at @monica_de_cardenas_gallery in Zuoz.

Yanai’s painting stems from a process of selecting and translating images, isolated from their original contexts and reconstructed through a rigorous formal grammar of sharp lines, compressed depth and saturated colors. In this process, the ceaseless flow of images that characterizes contemporary experience slows into contemplation. Everyday life thus becomes a space of focus and permanence, where the familiar takes on an unexpected and poetic quality.
In his paintings, domestic interiors, Mediterranean landscapes, film stills, everyday objects and urban views emerge as suspended images, stripped down to their essence yet charged with memory.
Guy Yanai’s artistic practice investigates the ways contemporary images are produced and internalized. Drawing on a diverse range of sources – including personal photographs, modern architecture, cinema, literature, and fragments of everyday life – he has developed a distinctive visual vocabulary, characterized by luminous fields of color, pared-down compositions, and a particular tension between emotional intimacy and contemplative distance.

On view @vitoschnabelgallery St.Moritz until September 5: Spencer Lewis & Markus Lüpertz: ‘Nebelstreif’

For both artists, space is not something represented but something built. Lüpertz constructs pictorial worlds through the fragmentation and reassembly of historical and mythological motifs, while Lewis generates spatial tension through accumulations of paint and gestures. In each case, the canvas becomes a site where space emerges through the act of painting itself.

Rather than presenting two distinct approaches to painting, the exhibition reveals a shared commitment to its continued reinvention. Across generations and artistic contexts, Lewis and Lüpertz approach the canvas as a place where image, structure, and sensation remain open questions – affirming painting as a continually evolving form of inquiry.

Open Tue - Sat, 11am - 6pm

This Summer @stallamadulain presents KÖNZ.
The exhibition reunites the works of Iachen Ulrich Könz, Constant Könz, and Steivan Liun Könz for the first time since their joint exhibition in Bellinzona in 1971.
Many of the works on display come directly from the
family’s collection or from the artists’ studios and are being presented to the public for the first time.
They offer new insights into the work of all three artists and invite visitors to rediscover their artistic legacy.
It is far more than a presentation of three related artists. Rather, it tells the story of a family whose work has helped shape the cultural identity of the Engadin over generations.
Architecture, painting, watercolour, drawing, sgraffito, and literature come together in an exceptionally diverse body of work. Although they shared common roots, each of the three
artists developed a distinctive artistic language and, in his own way, made a significant contribution to the artistic and cultural history of the Engadin.

This summer @hauserwirth St. Moritz presents ‘Intimate Anatomies’ bringing together the work of Cathy Josefowitz, Maria Lassnig and Carol Rama, three 20th-century, trailblazing women artists whose practices undermined traditional notions of portraiture by depicting the female body as an individual and lived experience.

‘Intimate Anatomies’ for the first time unites paintings and works on paper by Lassnig and Josefowitz with works by Rama. Within each of their highly unique iterations of the body, they are united by a rebellion against convention through movement, amorphousness, explorations of sexuality and their use of colour.
Through their boundary-pushing depictions of the human form and psyche, the exhibition not only highlights the artists’ distinct relationship to their own body but also draws attention to the body’s relation to society, architectural space and nature.

On view until 29 August 2026
Tue - Sat, 11 am - 6 pm

Opening Saturday, August 8, 4 – 7pm
@galerieursmeileofficial is pleased to present Passaggio, a solo exhibition by Mirko Baselgia (b. 1982, Lantsch/Lenz, Switzerland) at the gallery’s Engadin location in Ardez. At the center of the exhibition stands the artist’s exploration of transition, materiality and the dissolution of fixed categories.

The central work is a wooden sculpture in two parts that unfolds between interior and exterior space: one element is situated indoors, standing, while the other is outdoors, lying; together they form a single work whose connection only becomes visible through their physical separation.

Mirko Baselgia’s new pieces explore conditions in which familiar orders lose their unambiguity. Visibility is tied to material presence, while stability appears only as a temporary condition. Interior and exterior, structure and skin, supporting framework and surface initially appear as opposing categories. Within the works themselves, however, these boundaries begin to blur.

On view from August 3 to August 30, 2026

MARIUCCIA SECOL: UNRAVELING at @muzeumsusch
Exhibition dates: 11 June 2026 – 1 November 2026
Curated by Monika Branicka and Eva Brioschi

Starting June 11, 2026, Muzeum Susch will present Mariuccia Secol: Unraveling, the first major institutional retrospective dedicated to the versatile Italian artist and activist Mariuccia Secol (b.1929).
Curated by Monika Branicka and Eva Brioschi, the exhibition features over seventy years of her artistic practice, offering a comprehensive view of a body of work that combines radical
feminism, social critique, and historical rediscovery.
The exhibition traces Secol’s evolution from her early paintings in the 1950s and 1960s, which feature existential themes and the trauma of war.

Influenced by the protest climate of 1968 and emerging feminist movements, Secol incorporated methods of political pressure, such as strikes, into her artistic practice.
She abandoned her “quiet brushes” to work with everyday and domestic materials, like aprons and metal sponges, which she
called “instruments of the female role” that became the raw material for an act of refusal.

On view at @monica_de_cardenas_gallery in Zuoz an exhibition of recent works by Thomas Huber.

Swiss artist Thomas Huber, known for his conceptual, edge-of-reality paintings of interiors and imaginary architectural structures, has long been based in Berlin, but since a couple of
years has felt the need to return to the landscapes of his youth, taking a home on the Italian/Swiss border near Cannobio on the Lago Maggiore.

The spectacular views of the lake from his house form the inspiration for the paintings in the exhibition. Like a sort of visual diary, the works explore the potentially endless variations on the same landscape, in which the mountains, water, sky and light are traversed by the rhythm of the seasons and the changes of weather and light.

A celebration of nature and the beauty and simplicity of the landscape, the paintings in this series represent an important new direction in Huber’s work: while retaining the vivid colors and well-defined shapes typical of his art, the large oils and watercolors in the show herald a significant departure from his previous practice. Built space and illusionary architectural forms make way for wide open spaces and the powerful presence of the lake, captured from a specific angle and at specific times.

Edita Schubert: Profusion at @muzeumsusch
13 December 2025–17 May 2026
Curated by David Crowley

Edita Schubert: Profusion at Muzeum Susch will present a comprehensive survey of Schubert’s art, from her early paintings to the installations that marked the final phase of
her career.
Schubert’s oeuvre is strikingly diverse, ranging from pioneering explorations of the human relations with the natural world in the 1970s, to bold paintings in the spirit of the trans- avant-garde in the 1980s, and collages reflecting on the brutality of war in the 1990s.

Occupying twelve galleries at the Muzeum, the exhibition will revisit Schubert’s own installation practices, such as the Doorways first installed at Galerija SC in Zagreb (1978) and
Horizon, her final installation presented at Križić Roban Gallery, Zagreb (2000), in which visitors were invited to step into her memories of place through photographic panoramas.
