Retirement party treats 🧁🍪

Last week my office held a retirement party for our Chief Engineer and being the baker on the organizing committee, I naturally volunteered to donate cookies and cupcakes for the event. I couldn’t resist making a few personalized treats including airplane sugar cookies (he’s also a pilot), Guinness chocolate cupcakes (he loves Guinness beer), and Scottish shortbread (he’s a proud Scot). Other goodies included snickerdoodle cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, Reese’s pieces chocolate cookies, espresso meringues, and coconut macaroons. It took me weeks to prep and stock my freezer with all these treats but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Birthday party treats 🎉🧁
Although my daughter’s birthday was earlier in the month, she celebrated her 17th birthday with her friends this past weekend. She requested mini shortbread cookies with marbled icing and vanilla cupcakes with saskatoon berry buttercream. I ended up making a few cupcakes with chocolate buttercream too because apparently I like to make extra work for myself. 🤪😆

Birthday cheesecake 🎂

Like many bakers, I choose to make my own birthday cake and it’s almost always cheesecake. Definitely not the fanciest dessert I’ve made, but it’s my all-time favourite. This year was a classic vanilla New York cheesecake with a chocolate Oreo crust, topped with homemade cherry sauce. 👌🏻

It’s a mustache thing. Actually, more like a zen thing. Flooding cookies with royal icing is my zen, so I made extra sugar cookies to giveaway for Father’s Day! Two of my local followers will win a box containing a baker’s dozen mustache cookies.
