So I decided to ignore the FCDO / UK government advice and went to Belarus 🇧🇾 despite the supposed “threat” of being a “political prisoner”, “pawn”, “bargaining chip” or whatever other nonsense the media churns out.

We didn’t face any issues of the sort and I couldn’t speak more highly of the Belarusian people and how beautiful Minsk was. If you’re interested in Soviet history, this place should definitely be on your list ⚒️.

The strangest toilet in the world? Id certainly say so 🤣.

This is in Tbilisi, Georgia 🇬🇪 and absolutely fried my head 🤯.

If you’re wanting traditional Romanian food at a slap up restaurant that is absolutely stunning and is also the most famous in Romania and Bucharest, then bookmark this! I’ve got covered completely.

The decor, food and overall experience were all 10/10 at this spot and I’m delighted we managed to check it out!

The world’s first ever World War 2 museum, or the Great Patriotic War as it’s called in former Soviet countries ⚒️🪖.

This is located in Minsk, Belarus 🇧🇾 and is such a unique spot due to the fact it was opened whilst the war was still ongoing!

Belarus as a country seems a lot more patriotic about their Soviet past compared to other former Soviet countries I have visited and locals were friendly with us and were open in discussion with us and their opinions on it. It was interesting to hear different perspectives from locals who were there and lived through it or the aftermath of it.

The former KGB Headquarters in Vilnius, Lithuania! 🇱🇹

It is now a museum under the name of “Museum of Occupation and Freedom fights” and out of all the former Soviet countries, Lithuania are probably the most opposed to the previous system.

An interesting place if you want to learn about Lithuania’s perspective on the Soviet era 🧠⚒️.

We met Bald and Bankrupt in the best Georgian restaurant in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania 😮👨🏻‍🦲🇱🇹🇬🇪.

After a day of sightseeing, we were all the mood for some Georgian cuisine and @ugruzina69 did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious with an amazing decor. I would highly recommend! You might even bump into Bald yourself 😉.

This is the Soviet underground station in Minsk 🇧🇾🚝⚒️!

Certainly the most Soviet looking train station I’ve ever seen 😆. For the price of 1 ruble (25p) you can walk down and have a look around. It was amazing how well preserved it was. So clean and tidy as well and seemed efficient!

The largest flea market in Belarus! This was located on the outskirts of Minsk and we had to take a Yandex Go from the middle of the city to get here, which took about 25 minutes 🇧🇾🚘.

Once in the market they sold every type of Soviet souvenir imaginable, all from back in the day. Space race stamps, war medals, USSR brooches, communist figureheads to hang on your wall, toy soldiers and cars and they even had a section for buying every type of knife imaginable and military uniforms! 😮🇧🇾⚒️🪖🧑‍🚀🔪
