🤎I lived this book, not just read it. The characters, OMG, SO well developed! It just felt so realistic. This was my first Strout, and an easy, easyyyy 5-star read. 🥹⭐

🤎Yes, it made me sad, but at the same time, it helped me understand things differently.

🤎The way this book tackles the idea of free will is so bold and fitting for its title. Like, you can tell what it's about, and yet, it's really about all the things we never sayyy.

🤎The relationship between Artie Dam and his son, and between him and his students, is just simply beautiful. I wish I'd had a teacher like him, but anyway, I'm glad I got to meet him through this book. And I'm a little angry that it ended so fast. 😭

Rooting for this one to win this year's booker prize ✨✨💥

💙 🤍 I went in expecting a family drama, but A Good Family is so much more than that. It captures, with an almost painful accuracy, the relationships between three generations of women, who all have to live with the burdens of the past that they never acknowledged.

✨The thing that stuck with me the most from this story was that the smallest things could become part of someone’s trauma, if you ignore them and refuse to address them. In the ways large and small, the actions and inactions of mothers shape their daughters’ lives. Not always in obvious ways... but they are always there, regardless.

💙Chitra, Shuchi, Yamini, and Tara all have their own regrets and crosses to bear, and seeing it all play out in an attempt to find some semblance of belonging and unconditional love was heart-wrenching.

✨A Good Family made me think about the relationships I’m lucky to share with my family members, as well as the parts of our interactions that are purely superficial. It made me reevaluate the ways we’re allowed to love each other, and the ways we’re not.

💙🤍Must read must feel 🤍💙

𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶָ The Shadow of the Object by Chloe Aridjis 🕯️💜

A quiet, introspective read about memory, grief, and the things we leave behind...

💜The Shadow of the Object by Chloe Aridjis is kind of weird yet comforting read for me..This is a strange, dreamy piece that veers between surrealism and magical realism. I found it beautifully written, yet it left me with more questions than answers, which is not always an easy thing to live with.

✨Begins with the main character, Flora, in her early 40s, wandering around North London, having come to visit her parents in Mexico City (or actually her mother and her stepfather, since Flora’s father, who came from northern England as a young man, left them for unknown reasons one day). One day, the old family dog bites her hand pretty hard.

💜I found this very focused on the idea of things that are left behind, the traces of people that outlive them, and the dubious consolation of holding on to their things.

✨Set in a dreamscape, this novella makes you think about the nature of memory while wandering through Flora’s consciousness, trying to decipher what is real and what is not. Aridjis’s writing is so atmospheric that it almost makes you feel as if you were wandering aimlessly in a hot, dusty Mexican street, trying to piece together the story that is being told to you.

💜I would not recommend this book to a reader who is looking for an action-packed plot with a clear resolution and a defined message. The Shadow of the Object is a more introspective piece, best enjoyed by those who like to be puzzled and thought through while finishing a book.

✨ The Shadow of the Object is the kind of book that I would most like to recommend to a friend who finished it and asked for my opinion. What is it that we hold on to when the people we love are gone, and how much do we want to remember them?

💙💛 Review : I went into The First Season thinking that I would read a football book, but what stuck with me was the story of everything that had to happen behind the first whistle.

💛Viren D'Silva takes us through the creation of Kerala Blasters FC during the inaugural 2014 ISL season. The uncertainty, negotiations, sleepless nights, setbacks and countless little decisions that slowly built an idea into a football club. It's personal, feels behind the scenes and almost like you're on the ground with the people who needed to exist long before there was a team for the fans to cheer for.

💙And that's where the Yellow Army comes in - thousands of people finding belonging in something that had only just begun. This is a book that felt much bigger than just football, at its heart is something of building from nothing, of creating trust, belief, and taking risks before there's any real proof that it could be a success.

💛A warm and engaging piece about beginnings, ambition and the people that dared to build from the ground up. 💛💙✨

🩷🧡Review 🩷🧡
Fire: The Alchemy of Seven by @dharti_shethiya_gori

🩷Fire: The Alchemy of Seven is a book that does not read as a character exploration, but rather as a self-reflective piece full of contradicting and, at times, uncomfortable truths that Dharti Shethiya Gori confronts the reader with. Poetry, reflections, and prose intertwine in a collection of writings about love and hate, the fear of attachment and the longing for a lasting connection, the healing path, and learning to accept and love oneself.

🧡The strength of Fire lies in its ability to depict fire not only as a destructive force but as a source of energy that quickens the pace of healing, ignites desire and passion, and, ultimately, reveals the truth about oneself. Gori’s writing does not force the reader toward a presumably correct answer or sudden realization about their relationship with the world and themselves; instead, it allows them to dwell in their thoughts, feelings, and traumas.

🩷Many of the poems included in the book are short, and I have to admit some of them appeared cryptic at first glance. However, the more I reread them, the more meaning I felt them contain. In fact, I think this book is one of those that you do not absorb hastily but let it lingers in your mind after a few pages. “Reflection,” in particular, is a stunning piece that made me reconsider the role of relationships in my life.

🧡In a nutshell, Fire: The Alchemy of Seven is a collection of writings about love, hate, attachment, healing, and acceptance. It is not a book of rapid judgments and straight answers but a series of intimate reflections and philosophical musings. Therefore, if one loves poetry in which authors do not seek to unveil an obvious truth, Fire is a book worth exploring.

✨💙 Never Taking No For an Answer presents an intriguing perspective on the evolution of Indian private enterprise and its parallel development with the country. Above all, its ability to create a symbiosis between business progress and the people’s lives, social events, and even political decisions, has caught my attention.

💙✨To begin with, what I find interesting in this book concerns the perspectives of different business leaders. To some extent, it makes the book a collection of essays, not the entire business history of India’s enterprises. At the same time, the history part is vividly described, mostly through the lens of business leaders’ experience. These paragraphs present a thorough overview of the liberalization process, which occurred at the end of the 20th century and profoundly affected enterprises and people’s lives. Thus, the book creates a complete story about businesses’ progress, which is based on both business leaders’ actions and external forces. Moreover, I think it is worth mentioning that the book usually refers to different social groups and events when describing businesses’ development. From the very beginning, one sees how the independence and the end of the License Raj affect different enterprises.
Then, throughout the historical process, varying phenomena and circumstances, such as liberalization, economic reforms, crises, and new challenges, influence businesses and their further development. Hence, the book shows, rather than tells, about the opportunities for enterprises in different settings.

✨💙In conclusion, for me, this book is a valuable source of information concerning business, business leaders, and India’s economy and history. Moreover, it provides a useful perspective on how enterprises develop within the context of different political, social, and economic forces. Thus, for a person interested in business and history, this book is a great discovery, as well as an educational and thought-provoking experience.

I cried. I sobbed. I cried HARD. 😭😭

It’s hard.... it really is... to take that brave step, to find the courage to stand up for yourself and choose your own happiness. And somehow, this book makes you feel all of that so painfully. It hurts so bad.

No one warned me. 😭 I knew it was sad, but I didn’t know it was THIS level of sad. 🫠

The last 20 pages had me sobbing so badly. I genuinely feel wrecked. I never thought a book this short could leave such a huge impact on me.

And it’s ALWAYS the letter at the end. 😭😭 If a book has a letter somewhere near the ending, just know it’s about to be PEAK.

A must read for everyoneeeee

♦️ Helen of Nowhere by Makenna Goodman is an intriguing piece of literature, both mysterious and frustrating for the reader, as he/she keeps trying to understand what the author wants to say. The story is about a man who has questioned the meaning of his own life, trying to infuse it with intellectualism and achieve spiritual transcendence through writing, thoughts, ambitions, and ideas.

♠️ What particularly impressed me in the book was the way in which the author emphasizes importance, not of answers, but of seeking solutions, the importance of trying to understand something without wanting to know everything. The book asks you to go through the same reflection as the main character, who is in continuous search of ideas, inspirations, and new ways of thinking.

♦️ The most impressive part of the book, in my opinion, is the continuous emphasis on the relativity of perceptions, memories, thoughts, and the continuous struggle of people to have a single story about themselves, their lives, and their soul. I liked the quote from the book in the second chapter – “Start over. Say you were a woman. No, say you were a man.” I think it quite explains the main theme of the book – pursuit, looking for something that can be explained.

♠️ I would not say that I understood everything clearly and that everything is in its place. Quite the opposite, I feel like the book made me confused, and I still have some questions to which I hope to find answers in time. In fact, I believe that this book is a great example of literature that makes you think, challenges you, provokes questions and does not always give answers to them. Therefore, Helen of Nowhere is an exciting book with a story that one can remember and cherish for a long time after the last page is finished.

Questions, questions, and more questions, this is what this book leaves you with when you finish reading it...

This book follows forty women who live locked inside an underground cage, guarded by silent men. And then things happen… and please, I can't explain what this book did to me. I just don't want to spoil this book for any of you guys.

What I felt while reading this book made me question everything... especially what makes us human after all. How can a book this short make me feel this much? Oh God, this was heavy...

Loved it, loved it, loved it so muchhh. ❤️
