The Ensemble for New Music Tallinn was founded in 2013 and has since established itself both in Estonia and internationally. The ensemble spans a broad range of contemporary styles and genres, with a particular focus on alternative tuning and microtonal music. Its work is defined by an experimental spirit and a willingness to explore music history while continually opening up new sonic dimensions.

Another exciting edition of "Scrapyard" series done and dusted. 🙌 Huge thank you goes to @hugomoralesmurguia for guiding us through his awesome pieces "Phobia" and "Voltaic Routines". @diyarisan, thanks for letting us showcase your cool music videos and also warm greetings to Bernhard Lang whose "DW30 loops for Klaus Schulze" we got to perform already for the third time. Cheers to all the audience members and @kanutigildisaal_ for being a great host as always.

Artist Spotlight: Ensemble for New Music Tallinn @enmtallinn

One of the Baltic region’s leading contemporary music ensembles, Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (ENMT) brings a programme of recent works exploring the possibilities of Estonia’s traditional bagpipe, the torupill.

Joined by torupill player Katariin Raska @katariinraska , the ensemble places an instrument rooted in Estonia’s rural and medieval traditions at the heart of contemporary composition — revealing its distinctive timbre and microtonal possibilities as a source of new musical ideas.

The programme brings together composers from across Europe and North America, including four UK premieres by William Dougherty, Justina Repečkaitė @justina_repeckaite, Liisa Hirsch @liisa.hirsch and Arash Yazdani @arash_yazdani_music, alongside Pasquale Corrado’s @pakocorrado ‘Ozone’.

Winners of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Ensemble Prize 2026, ENMT are renowned for adventurous programming and a commitment to new music.

A meeting of tradition and experimentation, local heritage and international contemporary practice.

„Współczulność” Wojciecha Błażejczyka to utwór, w którym viola d’amore i cały zespół stają się jednym układem rezonujących dźwięków. Inspiracją dla kompozytora były zarówno struny współczulne instrumentu, jak i biologiczny układ nerwowy reagujący na stres. Muzyka balansuje więc między napięciem a odprężeniem, a sam instrument staje się punktem wyjścia do opowieści o współbrzmieniu i współodczuwaniu. Utwór powstał dla Ensemble for New Music Tallinn i Talvi Nurgamaa i był zamówieniem Warszawskiej Jesieni. by @enmtallinn

„Sharveh” Arasha Yazdaniego czerpie z tradycyjnej formy śpiewu żałobnego z południowych regionów Iranu. To lament wykonywany podczas pogrzebów i czuwań, a utwór inspirowany jest tradycją regionu Buszehr.

Podczas 69. Warszawskiej Jesieni „Sharveh” zabrzmiało w wykonaniu Ensemble for New Music Tallinn pod dyrekcją Arasha Yazdaniego, z Katariin Raską na estońskich dudach torupill. by @enmtallinn

We really enjoyed the festival vibe and the warm reception form the Polish audience as well (there were nearly 300 of you!!!) Our new season has kicked off with first rehearsals for upcoming @warsawautumn festival. Together with @katariinraska we are soon heading off to Warsaw to perform pieces for the first time to Polish audience from the following authors:

It’s time once again to look back at the projects we’ve funded.
Starting July 1, you can submit applications again—both for project funding and funding for youth projects. The deadline is October 1.
!!Please note that we’ve moved the deadline up to 2 p.m. !! We want to be available to answer any last-minute questions or address any issues that may arise….
If you’d like to submit an application, feel free to check out our website in advance. There you’ll find all the information you need about project funding and Youth project funding. We’ll also be offering webinars again in September.

Ab dem 1. Juli können wieder Anträge eingereicht werden. Sowohl für die Projektförderung als auch für die Nachwuchsförderung. Das Fristende ist der 1. Oktober. !! Bitte beachtet, dass wir die Deadline auf 14 Uhr vorverlegt haben. !! Wir möchten für euch ansprechbar sein, falls im letzten Moment noch kleine Fragen oder Probleme auftauchen….
