We may have been pipped at the post but what a great time was had at the @skyarts Awards last night! Congrats to @annahmeredith (whose music always features prominently in our storybook concerts with kids around the country) and thanks to Sky Arts Awards for recognizing the amazing work we do with our fellow nominees @musicintheround. We continue this work in Sheffield later this week playing to hundreds of children in three days of #izzygizmo concerts, as well as a live film score performance of #charliechaplin The Gold Rush, before taking our dramatized Janacek Intimate Letters to @wiltshiremusic.

Wonderful to start work preparing for our recording of chamber music and song by Pamela Harrison for @resonusclassics, with @skepticalsoprano Katharine Dain sounding gorgeous in Harrison’s exquisite Baudelaire settings.

Great to play to a packed house at the Upper Chapel yesterday, in collaboration with @matildalloydtrumpet. Matilda’s cleverly designed programme took in music by Bernstein, Gershwin, Copland and Amy Beach, as well as Hindemith, whose double concerto for trumpet and bassoon, with @flo.plane, received a rare outing and was a fascinating discovery.

We’re totally thrilled to announce that we have been shortlisted, together with our treasured partners at @musicintheround, for the @skyarts Classical Music Award. This nomination recognizes the amazing work we do together to bring the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival to life every year in May, continuing the legacy of our predecessors in this role, the great Lindsay String Quartet. Absolutely wonderful to have music-making in the fantastic city of Sheffield honoured in this way. Thanks to all our supporters and festival volunteers for making SCMF such a special event every year. And put SCMF27 in your diaries NOW - May 14-22! taken in Sheffield Theatres by @ensemble360
