What Makes A City? 26-27 June 2026

What an intense, exhausting, but incredibly fruitful week creating this opera with such an amazing team. So grateful to everyone who helped bring these beautiful scenes to life in just one week, truly unforgettable!

Special thanks to @kurisup, our wonderful Musical Director, for all the patience, guidance, and support throughout the process. Huge thanks as well to @toomanydots for writing such amazing (and challenging!!) music, and to @itspersiaamelia for directing and shaping the production so beautifully. (Please take a good rest now!!)

And extra love to my market trader partners @lailabmsinging and ZiHua 🫶 It was such a joy performing alongside you both!

Feeling so grateful and overjoyed to be part of Vestal! This is my first ever musical theatre project! 🎭

Big thanks to @bethanyhannahsoprano for writing such a meaningful story about self-worth and identity, and to @abbiew.music for your beautiful music and for trusting a classical singer like me to sing it! And of course, thank you to our amazing live band! 🎶

Endless love to @abelhansonartistry , who created stunning props, sets, costumes, and gave me so much positive energy throughout. 💕✨

To the wonderful cast, I’m so grateful to have shared this journey with all of you!! I’ve learned so much about acting, dancing, and projection from you all. Thank you for your support and friendship. Especially credit to our brilliant photographer @freyaboardman_am 💕

Thanks to everyone for making this amazing opera scene set in a jazz bar, such a memorable experience!

A special shoutout to my “Suicide Quartet” @emjackson_sop_ @lailabmsinging @erinlouisesings for singing the Three Boys from The Magic Flute, and to my wonderful partner @lubovraievska for singing Aprite, presto aprite with me.

Huge thanks to Jonathan Ainscough, our incredible Artistic Director, for all the support and movement coaching, and to Elodie Smith @elodiesmithsoprano , our Assistant Director, for creating such a beautiful setting. And of course, deep thanks to our brilliant Musical Directors, Geraldine Cassidy and Carolyn Hargreaves!

Also big love to our jazz trio, accompanists, fellow singers, and everyone behind the scenes. It’s been a true honour to perform and work alongside you all!!!

Thank you, Rothwell Competition!

I took part in four classes and was thrilled to win FIRST place in the Operatic Aria and French Melody🥇, as well as SECOND place in Lieder and 20th/21st Century British Composer Solo Song🥈!

It was great to have Maria Jagusz as the adjudicator again— her feedback was incredibly valuable! And I was so happy to perform with Alice Maslin as my accompanist after nearly a year.

Had such a great time at the Mrs Sunderland Festival!

I participated in three classes and was thrilled to win second place in the Operatic Solo🥈!

Learned so much from the adjudicators’ feedback and from watching other talented performers😍

It was a busy but incredibly rewarding day, made even better by sharing it with friends!

Opera North Masterclass on 4 Dec, 2024

Thank you, Oliver Rundell, for the amazing feedback on how to bring more expression to the song.

I’ve been focusing on singing more freely in this Baroque aria, emphasising notes based on their harmony or words meaning, and giving energy to reflect mood changes.

These approaches have made a huge difference compared to my previous performances! taken in Leeds Conservatoire by @enson.mezzo
