August

The month that year when I was born
The month this year when I was reborn
The ivory keys on my mind played out loud
"The hour's now, pursue things that make you feel happy and proud"
The glimpses of August, thus, a beginning of new beginnings
The hourglass in motion, and I sing my gratitude to the new innings by @entangled.nerves

Getting acquainted with the capital city through a lyrical portrayal

Oh, there must be a better way to immerse oneself and mentally walk through

the lanes you’ve never walked,
the timelines you’ve never imagined.

I’ll stick to these pages for now… until I finally get to stop by you, dear Delhi.

Found a 20-year-old treasure on my shelf.

Bought this classic two decades ago, read just a few pages… and then tucked it away in some forgotten corner

A few days ago, I rediscovered it

Going on a journey with The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

A journey back in time, packed with adventure, sword fights, friendship, and a dash of everything French

Have you read this Dumas masterpiece yet?

Recent reads

I'll keep it short because, to me, both books weren't worth all that hype.

1) Gone Girl: It's about disturbed marital life. But where's the story. Felt it was more of a word salad.

2) The Silent Patient: For a debut novel, it's a good read. But it got kinda predictable towards the end.

Glimpses that are
Of images shifting
Of claws resting
Of pages turning
Of food tempting
Of waves lapping
Of souls yearning
Of colors dancing
Of minds fantasizing

Book shopping is therapeutic for me. Not a Kindle reader, call me old school.

So when @ashishbookcentre announced a Book exhibition this month at Sunderbhai Hall, I just couldn't wait.

My TBR bar is raised by three notches, thanks to the latest additions to my book shelf.

I was thinking of starting a book vlog. Any suggestions for a newbie creator? 😉

Stepping into my 40s with a literary gem – the ultimate birthday gift to myself!

As I dive back into my music practice, I couldn’t have picked a better find from the bookstore - a Rock 'n' roll fiction by one of my all-time favorite authors.

Can't wait to devour this one!

A few months back I picked a Math textbook, after ages, out of odd curiosity. Thought I might as well check if I could still recollect the theorems I'd learned back in my high school days.

To my surprise, I did. Even ended up solving a problem or two. That led to a bit of reading on the history of Mathematics.

And this is when I stumbled upon one of the most intriguing and interesting topics - codebreaking.

Having read Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, and also having watched movies like A Beautiful Mind, I knew what codebreaking is. But I wanted to read further on the subject.

I bought a copy of The Code Book along with other books by Simon Singh a long time back. But this one was left unread.

Finally pulled it off that shelf. This book is all about the history of code and cryptography, and the amazing scientific minds who contributed towards it and continue to do so.

Also, bought a copy of Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. This is a magnum opus that combines fiction with World war history, and insights on Math and codebreaking.

I'm going to alternate between both these books. Gonna be a month of formulas and jargons, I suppose 😉

Getting acquainted with astrophysics - one book at a time.

My first pick is A Brief History of Time by Hawking.

Decoding complex science concepts using a lucid language is indeed a great skill.
