Today would have been the day.

We are devastated and still in disbelief about what happened.

For almost a year we have been working toward this day, doing everything in our power to give you the best festival in history. But it will not happen.

We feel sad and frustrated. And even though we never cry, we couldn’t hold back our tears standing in front of our completely built festival in the blazing sun yesterday evening.

We worked all week 24/7 on a new and intense heat protocol. Opening the entire indoor location for shade and shelter. More free water points, sunscreen stations, medical and security crew. Airco installations in tents, ventilators everywhere.

We were in direct contact with the local authorities, who confirmed that our extra heat and safety protocol was more than sufficient. We were fully assured that SCANDAL would go on.

That all changed on Friday at 14:30, when the government issued an official Code Red warning for our province, covering the entire Saturday.

Shortly after, we received the phone call we never wanted. SCANDAL Outdoor’s permit for Saturday was revoked due to the predicted dangerous weather conditions.

From that moment, we tried everything.

Different festival hours? Code Red covered the entire day. Move the festival to the evening or night? Sound restrictions outdoor made that impossible. The indoor location only holds a capacity of 13K while we sold 20k tickets, so moving the festival indoor wasn’t an option either. Reschedule to Sunday or next weekend? Many parts of the already built festival had to be dismantled on Sunday due to rental agreements with other festivals. And with a potential superstorm predicted for Saturday evening, it was too uncertain whether everything would still be standing the next day.

We did everything we could. Blood, sweat, and tears, with hundreds of people working around the clock. It wasn’t enough.

SCANDAL OUTDOOR CANCELLED

It is with great disappointment that we have to announce that SCANDAL Outdoor, scheduled for June 27, has been cancelled.

Due to the Code Red weather warning issued across the Netherlands, and after extensive consultation with all relevant authorities and emergency services, the decision has been made to not let SCANDAL Outdoor take place on June 27.

The safety of our visitors, artists, crew, partners and everyone involved will always be our highest priority.

This is the last outcome we ever wanted. We know how much this day meant to all of you and it means just as much to us. We are absolutely devastated.

Right now, we are doing everything we can to find the best possible solution. We are actively exploring the possibility of rescheduling SCANDAL Outdoor to a new date.

All ticket holders will receive more information about their tickets and the next steps in the coming days. We kindly ask for your patience while we work through every possible option.

Thank you for your understanding, your support and your trust. We are incredibly sorry and will do everything in our power to make this right.
