My dear companions of RCC,
The season went by as quick as the breeze arrived and left—a fleeting breath across the open field, carrying with it the sharp crack of sticks and plates still echoing somewhere in the hollows of memory. Together we traced The Line Between Us, forging something fierce and fragile all at once, and now the final note has faded into the night.
How strange it feels to leave this place. 3 weeks out yet not a single moment goes by without my memories to consume me. Loving RCC was the easiest thing I have ever done. It required no grand decision, no careful weighing of the heart. One simply stepped into the circle, felt the pulse of the ensemble move through the marrow of one’s bones, and belonged. In the long hours of rehearsal, in the quiet exhaustion after a run that finally sang true, in the shared laughter and the sharper silences when we knew we had not yet crossed that line we sought—in all of it, I found a home more real than many I have known by blood or address.
You have been my fellow pilgrims chasing perfection across gym floors and parking lots and darkened auditoriums. I carry with me now the weight of every bruise, every blister, every moment we chose discipline over comfort and art over ease. These things do not leave a man lightly. They become part of the stride.
Though the road turns for me now and I must walk another path, know that I leave no small part of myself behind—etched into the risers, woven into the drill, lingering in the resonance of every chord we struck while drawing The Line Between Us. Whatever comes next, I shall measure it against the standard we set here: ruthless, beautiful, and true.
Thank you—for the music, for the fire, for the brief and brilliant season we shared.

Dear younger me,
Time moves like wind through the trees—soft, swift, and vanishes into the distance before we know it. Another season has passed, and I find myself at a loss for words to hold the weight of my gratitude. I still remember the first time I walked into that room, unfamiliar faces turning into
family, the spark of connection in each first conversation. I remember the lunch tables bathed in golden sunlight, the way the breeze gently brushed through your hair as laughter danced between us. I remember the first time we unwrapped our props like gifts, eyes wide with wonder at the story we were about to tell. I remember nights at Chili’s, voices rising, falling, weaving hours into threads of friendship we didn’t know we were stitching. I remember our first competitions,
the fire in your eyes, the way your energy reached out and wrapped around me, anchoring me in something real. I remember sweat-soaked cloth, the grind of each reset, the breathless trek up Dayton’s hill, the tears that shimmered like stars as our final note echoed into eternity. This ensemble has given me more than I ever expected—to live, to laugh, to love, to break, to heal .If I could speak to you before this season started, it would be to not get distracted by the small
stuff, the little things. What matters is these fleeting moments we breathe together, the memories we shall forever etch into our souls. But if I’ve learned anything, it is to cherish these moments. Because time... time goes by, quickly.

As I reflect on this extraordinary season with Darksky Percussion, I am overwhelmed with profound gratitude. This journey has catalyzed remarkable personal growth and enhanced my dance skills to unprecedented levels. However, the conclusion of such a memorable season brings a certain melancholy.

Performing in the semi-finals was a particularly evocative moment. On that stage, my mind was entirely consumed by thoughts of my visual ensemble—our shared experiences. The memories we have forged—our collective efforts, the challenges we faced, the injuries we overcame, and the sheer joy reflected in your smiles, your dance moves, and your laughter—are permanently engraved in my heart, cherished for a lifetime.

Throughout this journey, I have been unwaveringly fearless—on the field, in life, and even humorously, in my perpetual tardiness. While it might seem straightforward to bid farewell and revert to my usual routines, the truth is far from simple. Your presence has been transformative in my life; it is because of you that joy has returned to my countenance, and it is you who have made me feel truly at home. This comfort has reached a point where my lateness has become a token of my ease among you.
