⁨ أطلقت هيئة البيئة - أبوظبي “مرصد القرم”, وهو منصة رقمية طورت لتعزيز جهود إعادة تأهيل أشجار القرم في أبوظبي، إذ يجمع بيانات إعادة التأهيل الخاصة بـ19 مشروعا قائما ومجموعة من الشركاء في الإمارة ضمن منظومة موحدة متكاملة.

طور المرصد في إطار مبادرة القرم - أبوظبي بدعم من شركة دولفين للطاقة، ويوفر مؤشرات حول تقدم مشاريع إعادة التأهيل ومعدلات النمو وأداء المشاريع على مساحة تتجاوز 1,775 هكتارا من الموائل التي أعيد تأهيلها.

يعمل مرصد القرم على تعزيز اتخاذ القرارات، ورفع مستوى المساءلة، وضمان تحقيق جهود إعادة.

EAD has launched the Mangrove Observatory, a digital platform developed to advance mangrove restoration efforts in Abu Dhabi. It consolidates restoration data from 19 active projects and multiple partners across the emirate into a single, integrated system.

Developed under the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative and supported by Dolphin Energy, the platform provides insights into restoration progress, growth rates, and project performance across more than 1,775 hectares of restored habitat.

By bringing large volumes of environmental data into one place, the Mangrove Observatory strengthens decision-making, improves accountability, and ensures restoration efforts deliver meaningful ecological outcomes.

تلعب البومة النسارية دوراً هاماً في النظام البيئي لصحراء أبوظبي.

تعتمد هذه الصيادات الماهرة في غذائها على الثدييات الصغيرة، والزواحف، والطيور الصغيرة. وتساعدها أجنحتها المميزة على الطيران بهدوء شبه تام. ورغم أنها تنشط ليلاً، إلا أنه غالباً ما يمكن رؤيتها ترتاح عند مداخل أعشاشها خلال النهار، كما أنها تتميز بالوفاء لشريك حياتها مدى الحياة.

وضمن برنامج هيئة البيئة – أبوظبي طويل الأمد لمراقبة الطيور، تخضع البومة النسارية للمتابعة المستمرة لحماية أعدادها وصون موائلها الطبيعية في مختلف أنحاء الإمارة.

The Pharaoh Eagle-Owl plays an important role in Abu Dhabi’s desert ecosystems.

These skilled nocturnal hunters feed on small mammals, reptiles, and small birds. Specialised wing feathers give them near-silent flight, and while active at night, they often rest at their nest entrances by day. They also form long-term pair bonds.

As part of EAD’s long-term bird monitoring programme, Pharaoh eagle-owls are monitored to help protect their populations and conserve their natural habitats across the emirate.

⁨ مثّل وفد من هيئة البيئة – أبوظبي الهيئة في مؤتمر إيزري (Esri) للمستخدمين 2026 في مدينة سان دييغو بكاليفورنيا، للاطلاع على أحدث التقنيات البيئية وآخر ما توصلت إليه التكنولوجيا.

وقد تواصل الفريق مع خبراء عالميين، وبحث آخر المستجدات في مجالات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية، والذكاء الاصطناعي، والاستشعار عن بُعد، بهدف توظيف حلول تقنية متقدمة تدعم جهودنا في الحفاظ على البيئة.

ومن خلال دمج هذه الأدوات الرقمية الحديثة، نؤكد التزامنا بمواصلة تطوير عمليات الرصد والتحليل البيئي، ودعم اتخاذ القرارات المستدامة في كافة أنحاء الإمارة.

في ذروة موسم الصيف، تنبض الحياة بالنشاط على جزر أبوظبي النائية.

ولمواجهة درجات الحرارة المرتفعة، يحفر طائر الكويري جحوراً عميقة في الرمال؛ ليحمي البيض والصغار تحت الأرض، بينما تبحث الطيور البالغة عن الغذاء على طول الشاطئ.

تحتضن أبوظبي واحدة من أهم مجموعات التكاثر لهذا الطائر في الخليج العربي، فإن حماية هذه الرموز الساحلية الفريدة تشكل جزءًا أساسيًا من مهمة الهيئة للحفاظ على البيئة واستدامتها.

At the height of the summer season, life on Abu Dhabi’s remote islands is thriving.

To beat the extreme heat, the Crab Plover excavates deep sand burrows, sheltering its eggs and chicks underground while adults forage along the shoreline for food.

Abu Dhabi is home to one of the most significant breeding populations in the Arabian Gulf. Protecting these unique coastal icons is a core part of EAD’s conservation mandate.

في يوم عهد الاتحاد، نستذكر بكل فخر واعتزاز العهد الذي قطعه الآباء المؤسسون، ذلك العهد الذي وحد القلوب قبل الأرض، وحول الحلم إلى وطن شامخ، يواصل مسيرته بثقة وطموح وإنجاز. وستبقى رؤيتهم الحكيمة وإرادتهم الراسخة مصدر إلهام لكل من يحمل مسؤولية خدمة هذا الوطن.

واليوم، نجدد عهدنا بأن نواصل العمل بإخلاص لحماية بيئة وطننا وصون ثرواته الطبيعية، إيمانا بأن الحفاظ على إرثنا الطبيعي هو امتداد لعهد الاتحاد، وأمانة نؤديها بكل فخر للأجيال القادمة، لتظل راية الوطن عالية ومسيرته مستمرة نحو مستقبل أكثر ازدهارا واستدامة.

قامت هيئة البيئة – أبوظبي بزيارة مؤسسية ناجحة إلى إيطاليا، بقيادة سعادة د. شيخة سالم الظاهري، الأمين العام للهيئة، لتعزيز الحوار الاستراتيجي ومناقشة الأولويات البيئية المشتركة.

وقد شهدت الزيارة لقاءات رفيعة المستوى مع قيادات بيئية بارزة، شملت إليزا فينتوريني، وزيرة البيئة والحماية المدنية في إقليم فينيتو، ولوسيا لو بالو، رئيسة الوكالة الإقليمية لحماية البيئة في لومبارديا (ARPA Lombardia).

وسعت النقاشات في روما والبندقية وميلانو إلى تحديد آفاق واعدة للتعاون في مجالات حماية السواحل، والاقتصاد الدائري، والمراقبة البيئية، بما يرسخ أسس التعاون المشترك للتصدي للتحديات البيئية العالمية الملحة.

EAD undertook a successful institutional mission to Italy, led by H.E. Dr Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, to advance strategic dialogue on shared environmental priorities.

The delegation engaged in high-level bilateral discussions with prominent environmental leaders, including meeting with Elisa Venturini, the Minister of Environment and Civil Protection of Veneto, and Lucia Lo Palo, the President of ARPA Lombardia.

Spanning Rome, Venice and Milan, the discussions identified promising cooperation pathways in coastal protection, the circular economy and environmental monitoring, laying a strong foundation for joint collaboration to address pressing global environmental challenges.

💧 Water is life — protecting it is a shared responsibility 🌍

The Embassy was pleased to host the latest Climate Talk: “Drop by Drop – Building a Sustainable Water Future”, bringing together experts, policymakers, youth, and families to discuss the vital role of water security in climate action and global sustainability efforts.

Key messages from the discussion included:

🌱 Making water a higher priority in climate action and international cooperation.

🌱 Scaling existing solutions through innovation, smart policies, and sustainable financing.

🌱 Empowering younger generations to contribute to a more water-secure future.

The event featured inspiring discussions, interactive workshops, and youth engagement, including contributions from partners, experts, and students who shared their perspectives and ideas.

Sustainable development is not an additional agenda. It is embedded in the way governments plan, deliver, and measure progress.

At #HLPF, the UAE 🇦🇪 presented its Third Voluntary National Review (VNR), showcasing a national development model that integrates the SDGs into government planning and delivery, with 63% of national SDG indicators already achieved or on track.

Looking ahead, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the 2030 Agenda while shaping the future of sustainable development through the XDGs 2045 Global Dialogue and the #2026UNWC, co-hosted with Senegal this December in Abu Dhabi.

التنمية المستدامة نهج راسخ في عمل الحكومات، يوجّه التخطيط وصنع القرار ويقيس أثر السياسات والبرامج.

قدمت دولة الإمارات 🇦🇪 الاستعراض الوطني الطوعي الثالث، مؤكدة نجاح نموذجها التنموي في دمج أهداف التنمية المستدامة في منظومة العمل الحكومي، مع تحقيق أو إحراز تقدم في 63 بالمائة من المؤشرات الوطنية لأهداف التنمية المستدامة.

“Water does not stop at the coastline, and our policies should not either.”

At the #HLPF, HE Dr. Shaikha Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, reaffirmed the UAE 🇦🇪’s integrated approach to water governance, emphasizing that #SDG6: Clean Water and Sanitation and #SDG14: Life Below Water must be advanced as one connected agenda to strengthen water resilience.

The UAE highlighted Abu Dhabi’s experience in applying the source to sea approach through a unified regulatory framework, circular water management, and science-based decision-making, turning this integrated vision into practical action.

The UAE also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing this global agenda at the 2026 UN Water Conference, taking place this December in Abu Dhabi, to help translate proven national solutions into scalable global action. by @environmentabudhabi

شاركت سعادة د. شيخة سالم الظاهري في جلسة "اللؤلؤ الطبيعي كرأس مال طبيعي بحري: التتبع، الحفظ، وسلاسل القيمة المستدامة" ضمن منتدى الأمم المتحدة السياسي رفيع المستوى لعام 2026 في نيويورك، والذي استضافته مملكة البحرين، حيث سلطت الضوء على أن أقدم لؤلؤة طبيعية في العالم، والتي يعود تاريخها إلى حوالي 8,000 عام، تم اكتشافها في محمية مروح البحرية في أبوظبي، مؤكدةً أن محار اللؤلؤ ليس مجرد سلعة تجارية، بل هو رأس مال طبيعي بحري.

ومن خلال "مركز أبوظبي للؤلؤ"، نعمل على إعادة تأهيل البيئات الطبيعية للمحار باستخدام شعاب اصطناعية صُنعت من الأصداف المُعاد تدويرها، إلى جانب تطوير تربية الأحياء المائية المستدامة، وضمان سلاسل قيمة واضحة وموثوقة بالتعاون مع منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة.

إن أبوظبي والبحرين تجمعهما بحر واحد، وتاريخ مشترك، ومسؤولية متبادلة. وتؤكد الهيئة استعدادها التام للمضي قدماً في هذه المسيرة المشتركة من خلال البحوث العلمية المشتركة، وتوحيد معايير تتبع مصادر اللؤلؤ، وتبادل الزيارات والخبرات بين الشباب.

H.E. Dr Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri took part in "Natural Pearls as Marine Natural Capital: Traceability, Conservation, and Sustainable Value Chains" at HLPF 2026 in New York, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, where she highlighted that the oldest natural pearl ever identified, some 8,000 years old, was recovered at Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve
in Abu Dhabi. The pearl oyster is not a commodity. It is marine natural capital.

Through the Abu Dhabi Pearls Centre, we are restoring traditional oyster habitats with reefs built from recycled shells, developing sustainable aquaculture, and securing traceable value chains with the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization.

Abu Dhabi and Bahrain share a sea, a history and a responsibility. EAD stands ready to advance this shared journey through joint research, unified traceability standards and youth exchanges.
