I haven't light painted in about a year, but the more I saw this Jack-o-lantern rot away in my back yard, the more of a urge I had to finally bust out the @lightpaintingbrushes tonight. Which do you like the best? 1, 2, 3, or 4?

@karnivalofthearts 2026 felt like stepping into an oldschool midnight carnival. Fire, music, art, strange characters, and magic around every corner.

Along the White Horse Pike in Pomona, this little shrine dates back to the 1930s. Built for travelers to stop and pray for safe passage by highway, sea, or air, it’s a small reminder of a very different South Jersey. Still sitting quietly beside the road all these years later.

Before it was Towne 16, this corner of Egg Harbor Township was home to the Atlantic Drive-In, which opened in 1950 and held nearly 900 cars. In 1969, the Towne Twin opened beside it, eventually becoming Towne 4, Towne 12, and finally Towne 16 in 1987.
For so many, going to the movies here was an experience, not just a movie. The excitement of pulling into the parking lot, the glow of the marquee, the smell of fresh popcorn, finding your seats as the lights dimmed, and that feeling of escaping into another world for a couple of hours. The theater is gone, but that feeling never really left.

Towne Pharmacy sits quietly on the corner, its vintage lettering, brick facade, and weathered storefront glowing beneath the streetlights. It feels like a snapshot from another era when downtown streets were lined with independent shops and every building had a little more character.
Places like this are easy to pass without a second thought. But stop for a moment and look closer, and you start to see the layers of history in the signs, the architecture, and even the little details that time has left behind.
