🇺🇦 A milestone for Ukrainian interpreting at the EU institutions! 🇪🇺

Recently, we held the first interinstitutional meeting for Ukrainian freelance conference interpreters, welcoming 14 new colleagues to the pool! 🎉

🤝 Bringing together colleagues from the @europeanparliament, European Commission and @eucourtofjustice, the meeting focused on professional standards and working together across the EU’s multilingual environment.
A big thank you to everyone who made this milestone possible!

Ever wondered what it feels like to interpret live? 🎧🎤

Our conference interpreters were in Ireland for a series of career events for students and high-schoolers, in Dublin and Galway, plus two online talks for those who couldn't join in person.

The highlight? Our mobile interpreter booth, where participants put on the headset and tried interpreting. Over 250 people stepped inside, and we loved their curiosity, energy and questions! 🙌

💡 Behind every multilingual meeting at the @europeanparliament is a team of interpreters making sure every voice is heard and understood. Maybe the next one will be you? 🌍💬

Did you know that this year’s State of the European Union debate – bringing together the President of the European Commission @ursulavonderleyen, Members of the @europeanparliament, the #Irish Presidency of the Council and Canadian Prime Minister @markjcarney – was interpreted in real time into Irish as one of the 24 EU languages? 🎧 🍀

Every year, #SOTEU is a milestone for European democracy and citizens across the EU. During this week's Plenary in Strasbourg, colleagues across the European Parliament have been working behind the scenes to make sure this pivotal moment runs as smoothly as possible. How do interpreters react when a speaker changes language mid-sentence?

Today, @ursulavonderleyen addressed the @europeanparliament for her State of the European Union #SOTEU speech. President von der Leyen’s speech was interpreted in 24 EU languages plus Ukrainian in real time by our @ep_interpreters.

Speaker suddenly changes language? Interpreters register the switch, coordinate between them and keep interpreting – all in a split second.
