I've been running a fever for weeks and supposedly it's not safe to work out when I'm feverish. Gemini told me that waiting this out is the most difficult interval I'll ever have to do and godd@$n... it's right. 🤬

I fought hard for months and now I'm back to forced immobility. It's not my happy place, it's my isolated, lonely place.

Started a week off work with my doctor's support, and hopefully we get to the bottom of this. I'm not optimistic, sadly, as when I was here last spring I was the one to figure out that I was having an anaphylactic reaction to a new medication.

Send your thoughts, send me a note, a smoke signal. I'll take it all. 🩷 by @ep_qc

I've had a fever all week and I'm really angry about it. Apparently one shouldn't workout within 24 hours of a fever, so this week has been one spent working or on the couch.

I'm terribly frustrated, as I cannot control my body and I cannot do what I want.

Headed to Chicago tomorrow morning, so there's another suboptimal week of training ahead. 🥹

Oh well.

Not the optimal week pain wise and the drive into Palm Springs just wrecked me.

With lemons we made lemonade, and still managed to see some beauty out.

This week was also a deload week, and it made me realize how much healthier my brain feels when I'm spending a lot of time moving.

This week's activities: 4 rides, 1 lifting sessions (went to the gym a second time and felt too ill to lift), 11 walks. by @ep_qc

Back to work and back to the reality that my stress levels are higher when I have to commute and all. I was attacked by a migraine on Tuesday and wasn't sure it would be safe to drive, so the week didn't really start in style and I had to adjust my plans.

Was lucky to be able to squeeze in a ride with @turncranksrollingwheels on the ebike Saturday, to go to the gym with Le Baby Sunday, and to see a couple of sunrises by the water.

Being dressed properly in the Bay Area "winter" is much easier than being so in Toronto, the crisp air just above freezing is not life threatening, and only one pair of gloves (no hat!) is needed. I count my luck.

But I'm crippled again by doubt and pain and trying not to forget to keep on fighting, that it's all a matter of perspective, that sometimes the view isn't hidden, it's just that your glasses are dirty.

Not a lot of sleep and not a lot of rest this week. I still managed to stay on the bandwagon and meet my goals, albeit at a lower intensity.

All the baby steps I have been taking over the past couple of months are starting to pay off, and I did a very epic ride on the eMTB on Friday with a new bike friends. I worked just hard enough, covered the most mileage since my bike injury, and felt inspired by how far I've come.

We keep on keeping on in 2026, slowly increasing the load. I do hope more epic things are on the horizon, and if they have to stay on the e-bike for a bit well then so be it. I love being on the bike because of the company and the beauty; the ride Friday checked all the boxes.

Summary of work this past week:
7 walks (goal = 7)
3 lifting sessions (incl 2 PT sessions)
5 rides (3 e-bike rides)

Onwards. by @ep_qc

Merry Christmas week, everyone!

Being off work made working out much easier. And in the presence of Le Baby, also more fun.

Spent most of the week in glorious Palm Springs, and ended up with this tally:

11 walks, 6 rides, 3 lifting sessions

Grateful for my body's ability to heal by @ep_qc

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Everywhere we go!

This week threw a wrench in my plans and yet here I am, with Le Baby, in Palm Springs, enjoying all of it.

Decided to give myself a biking challenge that is a stretch given my current level of fitness, but that does not set me up for failure. 500km in 8 days is impossible to contemplate this year, so I've modified it to scale after consulting with @turncranksrollingwheels.

Grateful for my body's ability to rally so far.

I was back in the saddle this week after a rough one last week. Doing my small-sized efforts more often is agreeing well with me right now.

I took my new e-bike out Saturday for my most challenging ride since the initial injury, and I felt strong and safe, which was not happening even two weeks ago. So there seems to be light at the end of this tunnel, and I'm really proud of myself for getting the bike. There are haters out there; I was never one of them. And now I'm even more of an advocate. As @turncranksrollingwheels said: You're fit if you can get on a bike. It felt true this weekend.

I also enjoyed a "long" 5km walk with Shubhie, and being able to connect over movement just feels so good.

On and on. We keep on keeping on.

I didn't post last Sunday because I reinjured myself and I felt full of shame for being so weak and so bored of telling the same story all over again.

Getting older in a woman's body just sucks, and I'm still unwilling to accept where I'm at. I want to keep pushing and keep trying stronger, but I don't know what my body can do. I overestimate it often. And that's what happened last week. I pushed too hard at work, I didn't adjust my workouts, I did one too many exercises at the gym, and then I really hurt my SI joint as I slept.

So yes, it's Wednesday and I'm only posting now. I took the day off to get on the bike and further recover. This latest flareup lasted only two big days, so I'll keep pretending that it is a good sign. by @ep_qc
