I had the privilege of attending Southwest University’s Official Leadership Transition luncheon, hosted at the university’s Culinary School, featuring some of the famous dishes from KALA Restaurant. 🍽️✨

The event celebrated an exciting new chapter for the institution as Dr. Jeremy Burciaga stepped into the role of University President, while former President Ben Arriola transitioned to Chief Executive Officer.

Congratulations to Ben Arriola, Dr. Jeremy Burciaga, and the entire Southwest University family on this new beginning! We appreciate all you do for El Paso and look forward to seeing all that lies ahead. 🎓✨ by @epcountyjudge

Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking at the Catrinas Runway, hosted by Border Heritage Magazine, celebrating the richness of Mexican culture through fashion, art, music, and the iconic La Catrina.

As Día de los Muertos approaches, we are reminded of the importance of honoring our loved ones, preserving our traditions, and passing our cultural heritage on to future generations. I also want to recognize Consul Mauricio Ibarra for his dedication to our region and commitment to promoting our Mexican heritage.

Our heritage is our pride, our culture shapes our identity, and our traditions unite us. ¡Sigamos celebrando con orgullo nuestras raíces mexicanas! 🇲🇽 🌼🕯️ taken in El Paso Convention Center by @epcountyjudge

Last week, I was honored to welcome attendees to the Texas NAACP’s 89th State Convention right here in El Paso, with this year’s theme, “Our Fight Is Your Fight: United We Build the Beloved Community.”

Welcoming the Texas NAACP back to El Paso holds special meaning, as our city is home to the first NAACP branch in Texas, which began a proud legacy of advocacy and civic engagement across our state. I want to thank El Paso NAACP Branch President Carl Dwyer, as well as everyone whose dedication and hard work made this convention possible.

El Paso has always been a community that understands the importance of standing together. We know that our greatest progress happens when we recognize our shared humanity and work toward something greater than ourselves. The challenges facing our communities affect all of us, and together, we can continue building a stronger and more inclusive future for everyone. We hope everyone enjoyed their time in El Paso and experienced the warmth of our community! 🤝 by @epcountyjudge

Sharing experiences and working together allows us to improve coordination, support public safety, and better respond to the needs of our border communities.
