Well, I decided to end my SHT fkt attempt the other day in Grand Marais because of lower left leg injuries. I’m disappointed, but happy with my effort and being able to complete 250 of the 300 miles in 9 days. Thanks to everyone who helped support me and get me to this point! I’ve struggled a lot mentally and physically over the last year, but having the opportunity to clear my mind in nature is invaluable and helps me to appreciate the journey more than the destination. I’ll be back in the future with an actual strong base of training and a more fkt-centered plan as opposed to a fast thru hike. I hope other trans and nonbinary runners take advantage of these amazing places that we’re lucky to explore, and pursue big goals! Thanks again to @hikethegoodhike for the awesome gear and for sharing the joy of thru hiking and the benefits that it can bring for mental wellbeing. by @epeterson_14
I set out on Friday in an attempt to establish the self-supported nonbinary FKT on the Superior Hiking Trail. There currently is no nonbinary record, and I want to bring more awareness and support to other trans and nonbinary people who want to explore the trail and other sports. Running and physical activity have always been incredibly grounding for me throughout every stage of my life, and have been a huge boost for my mental health. @hikethegoodhike is an awesome group that promotes mental health through hiking, and they’ve supported me with some sweet gear for this endeavor. Thanks to everyone following along and supporting from afar! by @epeterson_14
Photos from the Birkie trail marathon and Porkies endurance 50 miler this September 🍂🌲 Went into these races looking for a slow and steady consistent effort that would still save the legs to prepare for my SHT thru hike, and I left feeling excited and prepared. This was my first ultra finish in a few years and since transitioning, which makes it more meaningful. Transitioning has truly saved my life, but that doesn’t mean it’s been easy. Change can be incredibly difficult, even when these changes are wanted. How I look, feel, and how I’m perceived by others has evolved and will continue to do so. The people that love me the most have chosen to stay, and I’m grateful to know that the people left truly care and support me. I’m happy to find a home on the trail, and find solace in my mind and body through physical movement. Trail running and sport is for everyone to enjoy and to push our limits. Shoutout to both of these races for including a nonbinary category! by @epeterson_14

Hardrock 2026 amongst the wildfires. Love exploring the miles of this course and being able to witness record-setting performances by people who continue to show age is just a number, and the gap between men and women continues to narrow. And the grouse gulch aid station still remains superior💪🏼 also got to test out my new gear from @hikethegoodhike before my nonbinary fkt attempt this fall on the superior hiking trail by @epeterson_14
Happy late Father’s Day to my amazing dad, and happy 7th birthday to my baby Rocky 💙 very thankful for such a nice weekend and being with family by @epeterson_14
Taking things one day at a time, trying to hold tight to the things that embrace me back. Life is hard sometimes, but that’s a gift in and of itself because it means you’re still living by @epeterson_14

Five years of Hardrock memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything @hardrock100run by @epeterson_14
The last two months have been a whirlwind between leaving my job, hiking the SHT, and moving to a new place in AZ, but I was able to spend an awesome weekend in the Bighorn mountains with my dad running 50 miles on some beautiful trails. Mental exhaustion hit me towards the end, but I’m so happy we got to spend some time together and see a bunch of wildlife! Looking forward to some racing this fall and a trip to Hardrock next month🤙🏼 by @epeterson_14
