From one text message to our first-ever FTST Host Summit 🦙

A couple of months ago, Adrien messaged me about bringing Playground for Adults to Switzerland.

I suggested he come to Lisbon. Then another Swiss host wanted to join. Then a few more people did too.

Somehow, that one message turned into seven FTST hosts spending a weekend together in Lisbon.

We played, connected, hosted Lisbon’s first-ever Playground event, took an improv workshop, learned to make Venezuelan arepas, filmed ridiculous skits, and had an absolute blast. 🎈

It was the first time so many of our hosts had gathered in one city, and it felt like a real milestone for us.

A lot of what happens behind the scenes at FTST is hard to share. But this weekend reminded us that building a strong host community matters just as much as building events. Creating space for our hosts to exchange ideas, feel supported, and belong to something bigger was incredibly energizing.

So, this spontaneous weekend became our first-ever FTST Host Summit. Hopefully, the first of many annual gatherings.

And after moving a little more slowly than planned, we’re finally putting together Cohort #5, starting this September.

Here’s what we’ve got cooking in July. 👀

🦙 We (accidentally) hosted our first-ever F*ck the Small Talk Host Retreat. What started as a small gathering turned into something much bigger. We’ll be sharing more about it soon.

🎈 Playground for Adults is making its Geneva debut. If you’ve been curious about coming to play, this is your sign!

20 events. 464 people. 12 countries. 🌍

This summer, our llamas gathered everywhere from Canada to Cyprus, Scotland to Argentina, and Portugal to Turkey. Some met in cozy cafés. Others spread blankets in the park and watched the sun go down together.

Across 20 events in 12 countries, 464 strangers chose curiosity over comfort, and left with stories, new friendships, and conversations they never expected to have.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in June. Whether it was your first event or your seventh, you helped create the kind of world we want to live in. One where talking to strangers isn’t weird. It’s wonderful. 💙

Lisbon, it’s PLAY time. 😎

🎈For the very first time ever, ‘Playground for Adults’ is landing in Lisbon.

For one sunny Saturday, we’ll turn a corner of Monsanto Park into a playground filled with games, laughter, movement, curiosity, and the kind of fun most of us left behind somewhere around age 12. 🛝

ALSO: We’re also welcoming 6 F*ck the Small Talk hosts flying in from cities across Europe to experience it firsthand and bring the magic back to their own communities.

What to expect:
🤸 3 hours of facilitated games, challenges, and playful surprises
🍎 Tasty snacks to keep your energy levels high

Meet Giulia, the llama keeping meaningful conversations alive in London 🦙💛

Giulia attended one of the first F*ck the Small Talk events in London and loved it so much that when the original host, Teresa, had to step down, she was the first person to raise her hand.

Since 2024, she’s hosted 28 gatherings, helping hundreds of strangers skip the small talk and connect on a deeper level.

One of her favorite things about FTST is witnessing the “unmasking” that happens throughout the evening. Watching a room full of strangers slowly let their guards down and share the parts of themselves that don’t usually make it into everyday conversations.

Her goal is simple: to help people leave feeling a little more connected to themselves, each other, and the world around them 🌎

450 strangers walked into our events last month. Most of them left with a story.

In May, we hosted 18 events across 17 cities around the world. That’s 450 humans choosing curiosity over comfort, conversations over notifications, and real-life connection over another night behind a screen.

Every event starts the same way. A room full of strangers. A few nerves. A little uncertainty.

And then something beautiful happens.

Stories are shared. Laughter erupts. New friendships begin. Sometimes even life-changing conversations.

June is shaping up to be another exciting month. We’re returning to Malta and Toronto (we’ve missed you!), and for the very first time, we’re bringing a French edition to Lausanne.

There’s a moment at every event.
Right before it starts.
A bit of hesitation. A quick glance around the room.
That quiet thought: “why did I sign up for this?”

And then… something softens.

A question opens things up.
A story lands.

Two people realize they’re not that different after all.
688 people experienced that shift last month.

670 strangers became a little less strange last month.
March was officially our biggest month yet: 26 events across 23 cities around the world! That's a lot of people who chose curiosity over comfort.

Two new cities joined the family: Lausanne w/ @alienoraime & Budapest w/ Keely 🇨🇭🇭🇺
And a special moment: Geneva hosted their very first French-edition event 🇫🇷 Thanks to Adrien!
